INFORMA LION being laid before Council, that-tbe
fellow Fever has made its. appearance in the City of

be brought to at Cockipur, and there to perform a qua
rantine of fifteen days, including their days of foiling, and
that, during the performance of the fold quarantine, the

Refolded, That the term of 15 days quarantine, or
deiea by the refolmion of the 2d in Rant to be performed
by'vdfcls arriving from that port, be extended to 21 days,
and that all woollen and cotton goods be exposed, and the
veftjl ventilated, at lead lix days, in manlier directed by
tire laid refolucion of the 2 l instant; and that the Health
Officer govern himfelf in all other relpects agrefeably to
the laid resolution.

WHEREAS information hath been received By the
Mayor that the Yellow Fever rages with violence
in the city of Baltimore, whereupon the Mayor hath
cauled a special meeting of Council to be convened, to
whom he hath communicated Inch information,
Wherefore refolded, That vtffels coming from the laid
port of Baltimore dial! perform, in all refpe&s, the fame
quarantine as is preferibed to vessels coming from Phila
delphia by the resolutions of Council of the 2d and 23d
instant.

p’mion of the Health Officer, a longer term of quarantine
than 21 days may be necefiary to be’ performed by any
. -rticular vefltd, lie (the Health Officer) be and he ’is

Extract from “ An ordinance for preventing as
much as may be, accidents by fre, kfc.”
X-V. And be it further ordained, by the authority
aforesaid, That, within three months from and after tl.o
passing of this ordinance, every house within the limits *
and jurisdiction of the city, occupied and'tenanted, shad
be supplied with buckets, at tire expence of tiie owners of
said premises, to the number of at least the number of fire
pl>-;es in the same, ini tiding such as arefoir. the out
buildings, and the said buckets shall be equal it goodness
aud size to those procured for the use of the city, and
painted, on which shall also be painted, in visible charac
ter.-,, the ifonie of the owner to whom said buckets belong;
and, in case the owner of any house or tenement 4 should
re foie or ntglect to have the said buckets suppl ied agree
able to this ordinance, it shall ar,4 may be lawful for. the
tenant to procure the same, deducting it out of bis reat;
and furthermore, it- ihall be the duty of thyiFirt-Mc- stevs,
each to go .through his ward at least once in every three*
months, and examine the state of the buckets in each
house, and, in case; of deficiency, to summon delin
quent before the next City Council, and, on coriviCion,
he; she, or they, shall be fined two dollars for every
bucket lie, she, or they, are short of the number required
by this'oruinance; and no person shall make use of any
bucket'so procured for any other puipose but that of ex
tinguishing fire, under L.e penalty of one dollar for each
and every - offence; and/in case any person or persons
shall wilfully detain or Secrete from the lawful owner any
bucket procured as aforesaid, he, she, or thev, shall, on
conviction. forfeit a sum hot excel ding ten dollars for e
verv fire bucket so detained or secreted.
XVI. And ‘wbereds t he stores under the Bluff, and
ot! ers in this city, have few, and many of them no chioi
niesy be it further ordained, That tiie owners of every
improved wltfo/lot fn this city shall furnish, within three
yfiionths, twenty buckets, for the building or buildings on
s ch wharf, and distribute them propoi tfonately among
the buildings; and that the owner of every other store in
the city, t. at has no fire-place or places attached to the
same, shall furnish two she buckets far each store, of
such kind, and under such regulations, as other landlord;
are by this ordinance compelled to do.
XVII. And be it further ordained, by the authority
aforesaid, 1 hat every owner ot a wooden house or houses,
or brick of stone houses covered with wood, occupied as
dwellinghouses or l -liens, shall, within three months
alter the publication hereof, provide the same with a suf
ficient ladder, pr have a scuttle or door cut through the
root of such house or houses large enough for a man to
pass through conveniently, under the penalty of a fine not
exceeding twenty dollars.
