The Privy Counsellor Ttitixchell is in-
ve-qod with the title of 1’lenipoteutiarv
J'siraorilinury, and ' furnished with full
power* from'his Majesty the Emperor,
l of the purpose of trying, in concert with
the Cabinet* of Austria and England, ull
means compatible with the dignity of that
powerful Sovereign to restore the good
understanding with the Ottoman Porte,
l his new proof of the solicitude and
moderation of the Emperor Alexander
must abridge the uegociation*. and a-
Jt-mtlh put au end to the uncertainty rest
peeling the question of war.
Russia requires only the execution of
thu treaties by virtue of which the '1 tirk*
ai-o bound, first of all, to evacuate Mol
davia and Wallachia, and place lloapo-
duis at the head of the government of
those two principalities. Hitherto, the
answers of the Divan on those two points
have been evasive, and its actions by no
means satisfactory.
Russia feels, meantime, all the incon
veniences of war, without reaping any of
the advantages. For more than six
months, numerous armies, assembled on
the fiontiers of Turkey, occasion great
expense while the revenue is diminished
by the stagnation of commerce in the
eastern provinces.
His Majesty the Emperor Alexander
is not only very far from afl projects of
Conquest, but he makes his highest am
bition consist in consolidating the tran
quility of Europe.

Liverpool, March 15.
There is an increased probability that
fhe intercourse between the U. States
and the British West Indie* will be re
sumed soon. By accounts from London
it would seem that the government have
merely to meet the Canadian merchants
and the West India to ex'-lu lu on some
minor point of arrangement.
With respect to the scene of the action,
wo are left n ilhout information, but, it is
probable, that it was lought in the Gulf
of Lejiauto. We learn by letters of the
I Itli ult. f rom Ancona, that a vessel hail
arrived there in ten days from C.damata,
which reported that the Turkish licet
had anchored off Navarino, and subse
quently entered the Gull ot Lepuntn,
where they were descried by the Greek
fleet, which immediately sailed in pur
suit of them.

for our government, will lie torvvnrded to

It is calculated in an article in the Al

The accounts brought by this convey

France, evidently justify a persuasion
that that country is id a very critical
state.
In the Chamber of Deputies, General
Girard, in a speech on the Budget, and
alluding to the causes of these commo

nominated the immortal Captain, whose
flame will go dowtn to posterity with
those of Alexander and Caesar. 1 his
allusion excited a storm of applause and

It is proper that it should be known,
to prevent any trespass,—which can be
injurious to the trespassers only in the
result—that the said Island has been
purchased by Gen Geodes, of tins city,
whose title has been recognized by the
Court of the United States in East Flori

a rival claimant, requiting of him and
of his laborers and associates £20,000

Any subsequent trespassers would of

The slaves, mechanics, and property
