thority, that Mr. John Durham, who was
bitten hy a mad dog in this city nine weeks
since, died yesterday, in horrid agonies.—
He was convulsed io every joint, frothing at
the mouth, and it required lhe strength of
two men to hold him iu his lied—mil with
standing he was bitten so long ago, it xva:

cidcil symptoms of the hydrophobia, and
before Friday night he was a cold corpse.—

A company of English emigrants, consist
ing of about thirty souls, arrived hern las
week from Quebec, on their way to join the
English eolony, planted hy Mr. Rerheek, in
Illinois. They have with them young cat
tle, hogs, geese, &t,e. which they brought
With them from England. The whole com
pany is in good health and high spirits.—
These people came, out as emigrants to lhe
Canadas, and by landing at Quebec, have
helped to swell the. list of “ emigrants to lhe
provinces,” that have been published from
time to time in that rily. Hundreds find
their way across I,ake Ontario to the United
States, every year, in the same manner,

ly quartered in his American dominions.
