AN ACT making appropriation 8 for the Milita
ry service of the United Plates for the year
and elTecf, for the term of eighteen month’,
from and after the passing of this act.
Sec. Si. And be it further enaclid, That so
much of the lot of land on which is situated
the navy store house, in Notv-Orleans, as
may be necessary to continue the street,
now commenced, leading from Condi street
to Market-hall, is hereby granted to, and
vested in, the Corporation of the City of
New-Orleans, for the purpose of continuing
the said street.

AN ACT to repeal so much of an net, passed
the eighteenth April, one thousand eight hun
dred and sis, as limits the price of certain
lands in the state of Tennessee.
He it enacted by the Senate and House of
Representatives of the United States of Amer
ica in Congress assembled, That so much of
an act, passed the 18th day of April, 1800,
entitled “An art to authorize the State of
Tennessee to issue grants and perfect titles
to certain lands ftii ,.-in described, and to
settle the claims to the vacant anti unappro
priated lands within the same,” which pro
vides “ that the lowest price of all lands
granted or sold within the ceded territory
shall be the same as shall he established by
one thousand eight hundred and twenty- j Congress, for the lands of the United Slides,”

For the medical and hospital department,
fifteen thousand six hundred and thirty-eight

For the purchasing department, one hun
dred and thirty-six thousand three hundred

ment, two hundred and ninety-seven thou

the adjust merit of land claims ill the State of
Louisiana.
Re it enacted by the Senate and House of
Representatives of the United States of Amer
ica in Congress assembled, That the claims
fur lands within tile Eastern District of the
State of Louisiana, described hy the Register
nt the Land Office, of the said District, in
his report to the Secretary of the Treasury,
bearing date the 6th of January, 1821, be,
and the. same are hereby, confirmed against
any claim on the part of tho United States.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That the
claims for lauds within the District north of
lted River, in the State of Louisiana, de
scribed by the Register of the Land Office,
of the said district, in his report to the Se
cretary of the Treasury, hearing date the 1st
January, 1821, and included in the first, se
cond, and third classes of claims, he, and the.
same are hereby, confirmed against any
claim on the part of the United States, with
the exception of the claims numbered forty
and tiliyone in the first class, and of the
claims numbered forty-four, forty-five, forty-
six, forty-seven, and forty-eight, in the said
first class, (which arc included in the claim
of Baron Bastrop.)

Re. it enacted by the Senate and House of
AN ACT appropriatin'; moneys for the purpose
of repairing the Public Hoad from (. umber-
land io Wheeling.
He it ninelcil by the Senate and House of
Representatives of the United States if Ameri
ca in Congress Assembled, That the sum of
twenty-five thousand dollars, of moneys in
the Treasury, not otherwise appropriat
ed, he, and the same is hereby appropriated
for the purpose of repairing and improv
ing tile Public Hoad from Cumberland to
Wheeling, under the direction ot the Presi
dent of the United States.
See. 2. And be it further enacted, That, for
the. faithful and speedy accomplishment of
lliis object, the President, with the advice
of the Senate, shall appoint some fit parson
as Superintendent of the said road, w'sose
duty it shall lie, with all practicable dispatch,
to contract for, and personally superintend,
the execution of the repairs and improve
ments which shall he deemed necessary on
the said road, as well as to receive, disburse,
and faithfully account with the Treasury for
(ho sums of money which may lie received
by him in virtue of this act.
Sec. 3. And be it further enacted. That tin*
superintendent, so to be appointed, shall, be
fore he enters upon the discharge ot the du
ties enjoined hy this act, execute bond, to the
United States, with security, lo be approved
of hy the Secretary of thoTreasury, conditi
oned for the faithful discharge of his duties,
enjoined hy this act: lie shall hold his office
during the pleasure of the President, and
shall receive, as a compensation for his ser
vices, the sum of three dollars per day, dur
ing tile time he may be employed in the dis
charge of the duties enjoined hy this act.

port of the Navy of the U. States, for the
year one thousand eight hundred and twen
ty-three.
Re it enacted by the Senate and House of
Representatives of the United Stales of Ame
rica in Congress assembled, That, for de
fraying the expenses of the Navy, for the
year one thousand eight hundred and twen
ty-three, the following suujs he, and the
same are hereby, respectively, appropriat
ed :
For tile pay and subsistence of the offi
cers, and pay of the seamen, nine hundred
and twenty-nine thousand five hundred and
and three dollars and twelve cents, including
the sum of twenty-six thousand eight him
