Hair Restorative.—It hns been ascer
tained that the daily application of salt
will restore hair to the beads of those,
who from fever or other causes, have suf
fered its loss. The constant application
of salt has been found to give strength and
luxuriance to hair which was falling olT,
and causing rapid baldness. This is a sim

FROM ENGLAND.
By the British ship Mary Catharine,
('apt. Hodgson, arrived yesterday from
Liverpool, we have received our regular
files of London Papers and shipping Lists
to the 8tli, and Liverpool ilutes to the 9th
ult.
Some further particulars of the fall of
Varna, (which has been generally nttri-
buted to treachery on the part of the
commanding general) will he found a-
morig our extracts—together with some
less important operations between the
Russian and Turkish armies.
The. Cotton Markets both nt Liverpool
Rod Havre, wore somewhat depressed at
our latest dates.
The subject of Catholic Emancipation
still engrosses much of the public atten
tion both in England and Ireland.
It is stated as a remarkable oireum-
stance, that the Russian storks fell in Eng
land, on the receipt of the news of the
fall of Varna
Unfavorable, rumors of the KtnteofHis

All the French papers of Monday contain the
despatch of General {Vlaison, detailing the sur
render of the fortresses in the Morea, which
whs published »« the Moniteur of Sunday, ftnd
which wo inserted in our paper of Tuesday.—-
The Journal des Dehats congratulates the French
Government on the success of its expedition to
the I’eleponnesus, and praises the firm and wise
policy of the Ministiy who planned it. The
conduct of the Divan, likewise, in ordering no
resistance to be offered, and in abstaining from
acts which most have added France to the num
ber of its enemies, is alluded to in terms of warm
approbation. The journalist proceeds to infer,
from the commanding position thus acquired by
the French Government in the Fast, that after
liberating Greece, the Councillors of his Most
Christian Majesty can and will interfere effec
tually to restore the pence of Europe, and to se
cure that equilibrium of power by which peace
is best preserved
The celebration of a Te Dentn for the taking
f Varna, in the midst of the Ru«sian army, with
the Emperor at its head, of course removes all
doubt respecting the reality of the event. Var
na, therefore is now, after a siege of long dura
tion. and attended with unusual difficulties, for
the first time in the hands of the Russians.—
B »th sides understood the importance of the
place, and if there were uncommon persever
ance on the part of the besiegers, the hrsieged
shewed an activity and enterprise, a courage
and skill, which were not expected from them at
this late period of their history
