AGO! Aik'iJ F12VJEK,
A ND every symptom of general debility, s;>e
manendy cured by Costek & Coat’s original
Southern Tonic.
Coster & Cnxe, the inventors of this celebrated medicine,
from a long residence in the South, and from the nature 01 their
vocation, have been brought immediately into contact with the
Agub and FEVEIt in its most obstinate forms, ami have fre
quently been compelled to witness the entire want ot success in
the practice of the most skillful physicians. The usual and po
pular inode of treating this disease, has been, first to evacuate
the stomach and bowels, anddien to resort to the use ot tonics—of
which class of medicines a very great variety have been recom
mended to the public, all of which have had their advocates,
and that which has been by far the most popular one, has been
Peruvian Bark and its preparations, particularly that of Qui
nine. There are insurmountable objections to the administra
tion of quinine, as to most individuals, (when carried to a salu
tary point,) it prodt.ces a roariug in the ears, nausea, and a head-
aeh, very similar to a bilious headach; and when it effects a cure
it is seldom permanent. It was the hope of avoiding this state
of things that induced us to try the “ Southern Tonic,” and we
are happy to say that its success has surprised even us. As
there is no arsenic, mercury, or any thing iu the least hurtful to
the human constitution in it, there can be no objection to the ad
ministration of the Southern Tonic to the most tender infant:
indeed, it will be found the most delicate aud effective medi
cine known in those cases of disorganized stomach aud bowels,
and of general debility, which so frequently present themselves
in children. We subjoin the opinions ol a few individuals :

Adjutant and Inspector General of the Army in the recent Creek
Campaign, fc.
Mobile, August 18, 1836.
Gentlemen—During the late Creek campaign, I was attack
ed violently with Billious Intermitten Fever, which for several
days confined me to my quarters at Tallahassee. Your South
ern Tonic was recommended to me, and my friend Dr. Bussey
actually rode from Tallahassee to Montgomery and back in one
day, to procure me a bottle, which entirely relieved me, and en
abled me. before I had taken half the quantity, to proceed on
and join the army on Hatcliacliubba. Since my return home
my son was attacked, and I sent into die city for your Tonic, and
regretted to learn there was none for sale in Mobile. Cannot
you send some to this place, so that our citizens may enjoy the
benefit of the best medicine of the sort 1 have ever tried :
Your attention to this request will confer a favor on the afllicted,
and oblige one who has already experienced its beneficial ef
fects. Your ob’t serv’t, JOHN B. HOGAN.
From J. R. M’Leod, M. T>.
Montgomery, Nov. 1835.
Messrs. Coster & Coxe:—Gentlemen:—1 have used your
Southern Tonic in a number of cases, and 1 have no hesitation
in saying, that I have found it decidedly more efficacious in
Ague and Fever than the remedies in general use. Its great
merit is its judicious combination of Stimulant, Purgative, To
nic and Diaphoretic qualities. Respectfully,
R. J. M’LEOD.

the use of your Southern Tonic, in my presence. It is evident,
he is assured, that lie is indebted to your medicine foi his t pee-

opinion of it is certainl v a high compliment.
