AGUE AIYD FEVER,
A ND every symptom of general debility, speedily and net.
manently cured by Coster t Con's original
Southern Tonic.
Coster & Coxe, the iuvenlors of this celebrated medicine
from a long residence in tlie South, and from the nature ot* their
vocation, have been brought immediately into contact with the
Agur and Fever in its most obstinate* forms, and have fre
queutly been compelled to witness the entire want of success hi
the practice of the most skillful phvsicians. The usual and po
pular mode of treating this disease has been, first to evacuate
the stomach and bowels, and then toresoitiotlie use of tonics—of
which class of medicines a very gTeat variety have been recom.
mended to the public, all of which have had their advocates
and that which has been by far the most popular one, has been
Peruvian Bark and its preparations, particularly that of Qui-
nine. There are insurmountable objections to the administra-
tion of quinine, ns to most individuals, (when carried to a salu
tary poin*,) it produces a roaring in die ears, nausea, ami a ha* J.
ach, very similar to a bilious lieadacli; and v.-hen it effects a cure
it is seldom permanent. It was the hope of avoiding this state
of things that induced us to try the “Southern Tonic.” and we
are happy to say that its success lias surprised even us. >,
there is no arsenic, mercury, or any tiling iu the least hurtful to
die human constitution in it, there can be no objection to the ad-
ministration of the Southern Tunic to the most tender infant:
indeed, it will be found the most delicate and effective medi-
cine known in those cases of disorganized stomach and bowels,
and of general debility, which so frequently present themselves
in children. Y\'e subjoin the opinions of a few individuals:

From Thomas K. Si-atgeter, M. D.
Fark’s Bridge, April Is:. 1E37.
Gentlemen—I received a few lines from you, dated March
29tli, requesting me to make a statement to you of all the 1 enefi-
cial information that has fallen under my noth e from the nseof
Coster & Coxe's Boethers Toxic. I can hut say to vuv,
that from the limited experience I have with the Tonic, tod
as far as I have used it, 1 am well pieased with the article..
The reason I was induced to make a trial of the Tonic, was
my having some patients who, from idiosyncracv of constitu
tion, could not 1 ear the quinine. I was compelled to resort to
some other remedy, and seeing in the papers this article highly
recommended, I resolved to give it a trial, consequently I or
dered half a dozen bottles from Mr. Powell in Milledgeville;
and in using this Tonic, I found it necessary to administer in
larger doses than what is directed by die proprietors. Bv ikij
means I was enabled to cheek the intermitting fever, in even-
instance, where it had been given according to directions. I
liavo also used diis article with considerable benefit in chronic
complaints, where there was hectic fever. I have now a pa
tient under treatment affected with chleosis; she is rapidly
convalcscent. The patient, when I was called to see her, was
unable to get out of bed, with alarming hemorrhage from the
nose. She has been treated with Peters’ pills and this Touic.
I ought to have observed, that this young lady has been afflict
ed with this complaint for the last six or seven years, aud hat
taken medicine from various physicians without any benefit.
She is now in better health than she has been in five years
previous, and I think will, with perseverance in the use of this
article, regain her former health; but the result of this case
shall be reported to you. and all other effectual results which
shall come under my notice. You are at liberty to use this
letter, or any extract from it you wish.
I am yours, with respect,
THOMAS K. SLAUGHTER.
From our Representative to the Legislature, Col. Jno. A. Campl'd.
Gentlemen :—No medicine stands so high in my est imation as
your Southern Tonic, for the cure of Ague and Fever. I used
it at lirst by the advice of my family physician, with success,
and its effects upon mors recent cases have been equally grati
fying. Yours truly, JNO. A. CAMPBELL.
From w M. M Lem (ARE, Esq., Member of the Legislature, Ala.
Montgomery County, Dec. 1, 1835.
Messrs. COST an * COXE :—Dear Sirs—I feel gratified bv
this opportunity of testifying to the merits of your Southern
Tonic. I have used it in many cases in my white and colored
family, and not one case failed. In short. I assure tlie public
that it is, in my opinion, the best medicine for tlie cure of Fever
and Ague now in use. Very respectfully yours,
WILLIAM M’LEMORE.
From Major J. B. Morse.
Dear Sirs:—I had been afflicted with Ague and Fever nr
a long time, and although the remedies which were prescribed
gave me temporary relief, yet none removed the an use of tbe
disease, and thereby permanently cured me till I used yonr
Southern Tonic, it did so. This gave me grear eanfidenco in
it. an<1 a« I saw that you had recommended it in cases of’ driliii-
ty. general weakness, and inactivity of the digestive organs, I
induced my wife, who had been laboring under these symp
toms for a year cr more, to try it. She used one bottle witu
some evidences of an increase of health, and a few bottltJ
more, taken in moderate doeses, entirely cured her.
Respectfully yours, J. B. ]
quick, safe and easy;—and for after pains, it is a sterling reiue
cly. It has been before the public, in some parts of our coun
try, since 1829. It has stood the test of scientific opposition
and investigation,-and has prevailed. And we have the cer
tificates of physicians, mid wives; and intelligent-females, in
abundance. Each bottle has the proprietor's name impressed
on one side, and his written signature on a label, on the other.
Directions for using the Fern i!r Comfort in all cases for which
it is recommended, with many important certificates, accom
