Jefferson .Hale and Female Academy*
fTlHE subscriber, greatful for tbNfcbera! patronage bere-
tofore received, informs the public that the exercises of
the Schools for the ensuing year will commence on the
Monday in January. The edifice of the female department,
a neat and commodious two story building, is nearly com
pleted, and will be furnished with a Globe, Maps, and other
school apparatus, suitable for illustrating the fundamental
principles of those sciences usually taught in our higher fe
male seminaries. He will he assisted in this department by
Miss Stevens, a lady well qualified by her attainments and
long experience in teaching the higher branches of education,
to take charge of those classes who may study the French
language, as well as the ornamental branches. Exertions will
be made t« form a class in Music, so soon as the Services of a
teacher can be obtained. In the male department lie has en
gaged the services of Mr. J. M. Nash, as English teacher, a
gentleman who comes well recommended as a correct English
scholar, and who lias expel ience iu teaching. The subscriber
will avail himself of the modern improved system of teach
ing, and flatters himself, that by assiduous attention, aided by
his increased facilities, lie will merit an increased share of
public patronage. Board may be had in private families con
venient to the school. Prices of tuition will he similar to that
of oilier Academies in this part of the State.
