Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa
tives of the State of Georgia in General Assembly met. and it is
hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That the first Mon
day in April, eighteen hundred and thirty nine, be, and the
same is hereby designated and set apart as the day on which
the citizens of Georgia, qualified to vote for members of the
Legislature, shall, atthe several places prescribed by law for
holding such elections, vote for delegates to represent them
in Convention, in number equal to their representation in both
branches of the General Assembly, according to the last cen
sus ; such electiou to be conducted, managed and certified
under the same laws as are of force in respect to elections of
members of the General Assembly.

Sec. 3. And be it further enacted. That every citizen of the
United States shall be Eligible to a seat in said Convention,
who has attained the age of twenty fivevears, and been an in
habitant of tills State three years, immediately preceding the
day of election, and who shall have resided one year in the
county for which he shall be elected.
Sec. 4. And be it further enacted, That each member re
turned as duly elected, shall, previous to taking his seat in
said Convention, take the following Oath or affirmation, viz:

from the Constitution, or attempt to change or alter any other
section, clause, or article of the Constitution of the State of
Georgia, other than those touching the representation in the

Sec 8. And be it further enacted. That so soon as this Act
shall have passed, his Excellency the Governor be, and lie is
hereby required to cause it to be published in the Gazettes of
this State, once a week until the day fixed on by this act forthe
election of Delegates to said Convention ; as well as the num
ber to which each Couuty shall be entitled in said Convention,
according to the apportionment of members of the General
Assembly, to be made under the late Census, taken and re
turned during the present year.
Sec. 9. And be it further enacted, That the Delegates to said
Convention be paid at and after the same rates that the nieut-
i hers of the General Assembly now receive; and that his Ex-
I cellency the Governor be requested to draw bis Warrant on
! the Treasurer for the same, out of any money not otherwise
appropriated ; and all laws and parts of laws militating against
< this act, be, and the same are hereby repealed.

Pevton R. Holt, of Putnam county. All persons are earnest- |

may he carried oft'. He is a notorious rascal,,and a very |
dangerous one, and has before attempted the commission of
a similar offence to that for which he is now convicted.

TRUNK was left at McComb’s Tavern in Milledge-
ville, on the 24th December last, forthe purpose ol'liav-
it sent to Eatonton, Ga., but inadvertently it was put on
the stage without being way-billed, and has taken a wrong d
rectinn. It is a common seal skin or hair trunk, about three
feet and a half long, and one and a half broad, with the hasp
very loose, and a large nail drove in the middle of it. -Axiy

L EFT my plantation five miles above Madison, on Sun-
day night, the 27th ultimo, without any provocation
whatever, a very likely mulatto Negro woman, about twenty-
e ight or thirty years &f age. well ptoportioned, inclined to be
rather smut made, square built, and chunkey, very large
cheek boqeg. with a down look like on Indian, her toes turns

pronounces the word large lerge. I have no doubt about her
being enticed off by some trifling white man. The above re
