NEW MAP OF GEORGIA.
T HE i ndersigned has been for months past, enga
ged, under the direction of his Excellency, Gov.
Crawford, in compiling a Map of the State of Ga., on
a scale of six miles to the inch. The undertaking is
now nearly completed, and he flatters himself he wili
receive the favorable patronage of h ; s fellow-citizens—
sufficient, at least, to have it published and placed in a
durable fot m.
That a revised delineation is called for, of ot:r ex
tensive territory, independently of what exists in the
labors of Sturges nnd Greene, will not be questioned.
The accumulation and possession, since their times, of
a vast body of land designated then as wilderness, or
the temporary domain of the Indian tribes, with nat
ural objects well worthy * a habitation and a n.une,’
have been converted into organized counties, present
ing a dense population, flourishing villages, and exten
sive public and private improvements.
The Map to be published (so s um as a sufficient
number of subscribers will warrant) is five feel by four
feet eight inches; and is designed to exhibit, as well
as perpetuate, the present condition of the whole to
pography of the State. In addition to the urdinaiy
metes and bounds—courses of rivets and ranges of
mountains, Railroads, Canals, County Sites, l’ost Offi
ces, Factories, in fact all remaikable places of the past
or present day, will be shown. The attention of the
compiler has been particularly directed to a faithful
drawing of county lines and public roads; and to ac
complish such important ends, he has not. only consult
ed I lie original surveys and the acts of various Legis
latures, but he deemed it the better plan lo make
rough sketches of each county and submit the same to
the Justices of the Infeiior Comt, I’ostmasters, and
others equally competent and obliging, and to ask for
such additions and corrections as might be necessary,
and further to designate any and all objects ol natural
curiosity that might exist. To many, if not all of his
requests, kind, prompt and satisfactory replies were
given, so that many glaring inaccuracies in the maps
heretofore published have been corrected; and the
compiler takes this occasion of returning his acknow
ledgements to those who favoted his objects, as render
ing a service not merely to himself, but aiding most ma
terially in the thorough and correct dcvelupenient of
the whole plan. To his brother Engineers of the dif
ferent, Railroads, bis thanks are due for the use of
maps which enabled him not only to lay down the true
courses of those important works, but likewise to
make profiles exhibiting the elevation above the sea,
i f cveiy .ration from the Atlantic to the Tennessee
river. The map will be imbellishcd with views of the
State House and Executive Mansion, and will he fur
nished to subscribers at their residences at ten dollars
per copy. \Ym. G. BONNER, Civil Eng.

Uurivallcd Medicines.
T HE undersigned would respectfully inform his
friend- and the public generally, that his V.EG-
ETABfct LIVER MEDICINE, PURIFYING
PILLS, and Y’EGE'l ABLE TONIC, can be obtained
at any time from his agents in Georgia and South
Carolina, some of whose names and address ure given
below.
The Liver Medicine and Purifying Pills are re
commended as a certain remedy for all kinds of liver
complaint, and ill disea-es or indisposition which ori
ginate from affection or inactivity of the liver, such as
chronic and acute inflammation ofthe liver, dispepsia,
sick-headache, sourness of the stomach, loss of appe
tite, lowness of spirits, cholic, costiveness, &c.
Fifteen years experience has inspired hint with
confidence that the above medicines will never fail to
cute the diseases for which they are especially recom
mended, when used as directed in the bilis accompany
ing them. They act in perfect accordance with the
laws of nature, and their use is never followed by
unpleasant symptoms of any sort.
1 In y have also been used wit b marked success in
cases of dropsy, and particularly such as succeed pro
tracted spells of chills and fever—as also for general
debi.ily hum any cause whatever.
The Vegetable 'Tonic and Purifying niis are a
sure remedy forall curable diseases to which fern a] s
are alone subject. For paniculate see the bids which
go with the Tonic.
He will attempt no pompous show ofcertlf dries.—
The reading community are at thisdav fully informed
of the facility with which such things are gotten up,
and of tbe little tespecl to which they are entitled.
All that he would say further of the above medicines,
is, that they will not kill any one. And whether they
wdl effect the cures for which they are respectively
recommended, can Le readily ascertained by applying
to those who have tried them, thousands of whom cun
be found scattered throughout tbe Southern and West
ern States, ur.d particularly iu the vicinity of his
agencies.
ll lias become necessary lo caution the public again»t
counterfeits of the above, particularly ot the Liver
Medicine. A miserable stuff it.is been compounded
and offered to the i.fflicted as his liver medicine, or as
one virtually the same, and that too (he regrets to say
it,) by gentlemen of high standing in Ga. and Ala. On
Unit subject, he will sav Sjcio. that the-medicines here
in recnmmendrd are prepared only by himself and son,
•Dr. Miles A. Simmons, of Mississippi, and that ihe
gentlemen alluded to have not directly or indirectly
learned from him how or of wlat eitler of them is
composed. A. Q. SIMMONS.
N. B.— If any man should travel with Medicine to
sell, and say that.it was Simmons’ Medicine, or one
compounded like his, he is guilty of falsehood, and
should be viewed us an imposter, except he has writ
ten authority (to sell the Medicine) bearing Simmons'
proper signature. A. Q S.
