SOUTHERN RECORDER,
Good Shots.—Wo learn from tlie Tus-
cumbia Enquirer that on Friday, the 20rh
nit, an unfortunate difficulty took place at
Courtland Ala. between J. Bynum and
Ales Well. On Thursday they had a dis
pute, and perhaps came to blows, and on
the next morning they met, when a word
or two passed and each drew Jiis pistol and
fired, so near the same- time that the re
ports could not be distinguished apart.
The contents of each antagonist s pistol en
tered the forehead, and both of them died
the same day.
One of the Massachusetts Fine Tree
Shillings, of the year 1652, was found, a
few days since, in the excavation in front of
the Pickman Estate, Salem. Massachusetts.
The piece was bright and unworn, aud was
probably lost soon after its coinage.

The Ladies’ Department is under the imme
diate supervision of that accomplished lady, Mrs.
Jane Matthews, so well known to the old pa
trons of the Establishment.
The facilities which this institution offers for the
prosecution of a strictly Hydropathic and Hygienic
course of treatment, together with its easiness of
access from all points iu Georgia and the adjoining
States, renders it peculiarly adapted to the wants of
invalids desirous of availing themselves of the effi
cacy of the Water Cure. The purity of the water
and accommodations for guests are too well known
to need comment.
In fitting up the Establishment no expense has
been spared that could conduce to yakc it one of
the most desirable places of resort for invalids in the
U. States.
Patients will be required to furnish their own out
fits. These will consist of friction sheets and towels,
compresses, and blankets for sudorific purposes, all
of which can be purchased here on the most reasona
ble terms.
Terms—Professional attention, use of Baths, Ac.,
