FIREMAN’S PARADE.
The Merchants &: Mechanics’ Fiie
Company had their annual parade yester
day afternoon. After parading through
the principal streets, they finally drew up
in front of the Miliedgeville Hotel, where
3 Capt. Win. W. Williamson, in behalf ol
the company and citizens, piesented a
I beautiful silver trumpet in an appropriate
address to Capt. John Jones, Foreman of
the Company, who respouded iu a short
and characteristic speech.
The Engine, decorated with beautiful
wreaths of bright spring flowers, and dawn
ay our stalworth young firemen, iu their
serviceable but not gaudy uniform, pre-
1 aented a handsome appearance

past, aud if our young men receive
proper encouragement, will do so again
should its services ever he required.
