Fun Spots.—From a careful observa

a phase of unusual interest in the fine
cluster of spots which is now observable
on its siufaee. On the 17th instai-t this
cluster was seen on the eastern limb,
and contained thirty-six well defined
spots. 0-i the day following the number
had bicnased to fifty, all, with one ex-

This
sudden enthusiasm now over his de
nunciation of the ehiel abeitor of a
high tariff! the advocate of Ku-Klux
law, and the suspension of the writ
of habeas corpus? It is all hypocri
sy, and il is but the ebulition of re
joicing in their hearts over a pros
pective division in the Democratic
party. If Mr. Voorhees will not,
under any contingencies, support
the Greeley movement, he has a
perfect right to say so, but he should
consider most carefully to what in
terest he is contributing in his ut
terances.—New Albany Ledger.
He gave thecouniry an ex cathedra
dispatch a short lime since, senten-
tiously announcing that no man had
the right to speak for the Demo
cratic party; and in the light ot his
recent speech, in which he arraign
ed ihe nominee of the Cincinnati
Convention, ue must interpret this
dispatch to mean—except the Hon.
D. IV. T'oorhets! If the people speak
Ibr themselves, as they will, Daniel
’ 1 :l>at very few spots are visible outride I will feel as if he had “let a bird
strange bedfellows, though?—Af«-
rcen Democrat.
We have good reasons to believe
lhatB few weeks ago Mr. V. was in
full sympathy with the Libera! move
ment, and expressed himself as fa
vorable to the nomination of Judge
Davis. So lhat now we are to un
derstand that his opposition is of
purely personal nature ; that he is
opposed to Greeiv as a candidate,
and not to the platform on which he
stands, or the circumstances on
which he was nominated.—Sulhcan
Democrat.
Mr. Voorhees has gone just one
step too far to carry Democrats with
him. It he had only exercised I he
right of advising Democrats n«*t to
accept Greeley, some Democrats
would have heard him. But when
he goes so far as to decide for Dem
ocrats that Mr. Grant is preferable
iu Mi. Greeley,—when he puts into
the mouths of Radical orators in the
coming campaign his oa n utterances
to mislead Democrats, he has taken
a dep tr’ure that must he questioned
by all thoughtful Democrats every
where, and if there are those who
question the political honesty of his
speech, he must not complain.—New
Albany Ledger.
Mr. Voorhees could not transfer a
corporal’s guard of the Democracy
of Indiana into the camp of the
thieves that have for years been fat
tening off the sweat and toil of our
land.—Franklin Herald.
The LaGrange Report *r reports wheat

Judge Davis as its candidate for f

have been nothing better and sweet

assemblages which make up its con
