Reconstruction. —If, after bestowing suffrage, by com pulsion, on the negro, we are further required to admit him to the jury-box, and render him eligible to office, it is very evident to us that our people w ill prefer remaining under military rule to all eternity, to accepting any such Constitution. It is bad enough to bestow the right of suffrage on a semi-civilized race who, in their best estate, seldom attain the average capacity of w hite boys fifteen years old ; and it need not be expected that we shall, by our own action, admit them to responsible posts —certainly not, while at the North they cannot even vote without a property or educational qualification. Why should all these radical experiments be tried first on us ? Do these political quacks take their own physic? Why not experi ment with negro voters and office-holders on a small scale among themselves, and see how they like it? We were never famous for possessing more patience and good tem per, or less pride of race, than the rest of mankind. 23f” We must apologise to several of our advertising friends, whose favors we have been compelled to let lie over this month. Holloway’s Pills.—lmpurity op tiie Blood.— Health consists in the purity of the fluids and solids which com pose the human body; if the blood becomes vitiated it mfects the whole system by its course through every fibre and tissue. Hollow r ay’s Pills not only expel all humors which taint and impoverish this vital element, but purify and invogoraW it, and by supplying a gentle and whole some stimulus to the circulation, they strengthen each part, and give tone to the whole frame.
