They grow to a larger sine than the Essex, and are

SHEEP.
SPA KISH MERINOS.
They are free from rot and snuffles, are easy keep
ers and superior to the native breeds for mutton, and
when crossed, make a marked and rapid improve
ment on the native stock They are the only variety
of sheep that will remain healthy when kept, in large
flocks in a hot climate.
GOATS.
CASHMERE.
In many localities they have proved to be very
profitable. They are not a grazing animal, but re
quire a range with bushes, briars, sassafras, etc.—
When crossed with the native goats they give size and
stamina. The wool of the pure breed is in demand
in New York at SI.OO to $ 1.25 per lb.—that of the
grades from 7-8 upwards can be sold at To cents
per lb. . *
