The Watt Plough ! Patented by Geo. Watt, TOOK ALL THE FIRST FREBrOJMS IN the ploughing match of the Border Agricultural Fair at Danville, Bth November, 1868, against nil the most Improved Ploughs, from North and South, and has taken premiums at the Fairs of the present year, (1869) as follows: 1. At the Eastern Alabama Fair, at Opelika; 2. At the State Fair of North Car olina, at Raleigh; 8. At the Border Agricultural lair, at Danville, Va.; 4. At the South Carolina State Fair at Columbia; 5. At the Valley Agricultu ral Fair, at Staunton, Va.; 6. At the Lynchburg Ag ricultural Fair; 7. At the Rockbridge Agricultural Fair, at Lexington, Va.: 8. Received the highest ra tings at the great Field Trial in August last, at the Experimental Farm of Pennsylvania, at which over fifty different patterns of ploughs were tested. This Plough is now the LEADING PLOUGH in the Middle and Cotton States. Among the hundreds of testimonials we have from practical farmers and planters, we w r ould call attention to the following ex tract from a letter received from Col. B. G. Loekett, of the large planting firm of Jordan & Lockett, da ted Albany, Ga., Nov. 27, ’69: “ Before closing this letter, I cannot refrain from expressing my sincere thanks to you, for the invention of the best plough now in use. It is the delight of the negro. Besides doing the best work I have ever seen any plough do, it runs with more ease to the ploughman, and the draught to the animal is lighter than any plough I have ever seen. Your plough has already become a neces sity to me, and I would feel ruined without it. lam satisfied we have saved thousands of dollars annually, “iirmuleiTalbbe. It is the cheapest plough I have ev er used of any kind or description. lam anxious to bring, if I can, to the notice of my fellow planters this most valuable plough.” Col. Lockett commenced the use of these ploughs in the spring of 1868, and now has more than 250 of them on his plantation. We have testimonials as em phatic from other leading farmers in North Carolina, jSouth Carolina, Georgia, Alabama and Texas, of which the following are specimens : Warsaw, North Carolina; July 11th, 1868.
