Onstage International Arts
Festival in Savannah, Georgia,
and It's a chance 1o compete
with vocalists from around the
world
The seventh annual Ameri
can Traditions Competition
will take place March 4-13,
2000, and the deadline to en
ter wies December 31, 1999
There are no age or training
requirements to enter and
the Competition is open to
both men and women. Prizes
worth $27.500 will be
awarded, with SIO,OOO going
to the Oxnard Gold Medal

liminary tape round will be
invited to attend the live
rounds in Savannah. Each
semifinalist will receive
SSOO, and each finalist
SI,OOO. In 1999, 50 quarter
finalists were selected to
compete from 23 states,
Canada and the United King
dom.
The 2000 repertoire show
cases blues, jazz, spirituals,
gospel and musical
theater, art songs, anda
songs popular at the
turn of the century
(1900-1910). Competi
tion judges are stars
of the entertainment
world, including
Sheldon Harnick, cel
ebrated songwriter
and lyricist, co-creator
of Fiddleron the Rood,
