AUGUSTA FOCUS
An ASU student has received one
of eight prestigious Fulbright Schol
arships to study in Belgium this fall.
Uzoma Anadu, a senior political sci
ence major, was awarded the scholar
ship to study with Professor Benoit
Rihoux at the Catholic University of
Louvain. She will be researching
Belgian economic and tax policy.
This award marks the second time
in two years that an ASU political
science student has been awarded a
Fulbright Scholarship. The award
will be the third for the university.
Established in 1946, the Fulbright
Program aims to increase mutual
understanding between the peoples
of the United States and other coun
tries through the exchange of per
sons, knowledge, and skills.

leadership award from
members of the Alpha
Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.,
Zeta Eta Chapter — Paine
College. The award was
presented for outstanding
support of Paine College.

Ray Guy selected
for College Football
Hall of Fame
The Greater Augusta Sports
Council is pleased to
announce that native Ray Guy
has been selected for induction
in to the College Football of
Fame in South Bend, Indiana.
A first team All-America
selection in 1972, Guy led the
nation with a 46.2 — yard
average, which led to appear
ances in the Senior Bowl,
East/West Shrine Game, All-
America Bowl, and College
All-Star Game, of which he
was named MVP. Averaging
44.7-yards for his career, Guy
recorded three punts for over
70 yards, including a record
93-yarder as a senior. After
graduation he become the first
and only pure punter to be

the NFL draft when the Oak
land Raiders selected him. He
played 1 or 14 years in the
NFL and won three Super
Bowls. In 2000, the Greater
Augusta Sports Council creat
ed the nationally recognized
Ray Guy Award for college
Punter of the Year to honor his
achievements.
The 2004 College Football
Hall of Fame class will be
inducted at the 47th Annu
al Awards Dinner on
December 7 at the Waldorf-
Astoria in New-York City.
They will be officially
enshrined at the Hall in
South Bend during cere
monies in Augusta 2005.
