Labor department will help laid-off workers
at Fort Stewart’s Lear Siegler Services

Labor Commissioner
Michael Thurmond said
today that the Georgia
Department of Labor
will provide assistance
to about 300 employees
who have lost their jobs
at Lear Siegler Services,
Inc. (LSI) at Fort Stew
art in Hinesville.

the workers have been
laid-off.

them to know that they
are not alone in dealing
with the problem. We
are prepared to assist

with the employer and
the community to
determine how we can
best assist the affected
employees,” the com
missioner continued.
“We will help the
employees file claims
for unemployment

insurance and give them
access to services
designed to get them
back to work as quickly
as possible. We will also
assist workers who need
additional skills to find
appropriate training.”
Labor department
staff are scheduled to
meet with the laid-off
workers tomorrow to
explain the wide variety
of services available
from the department
designed to help them
find new jobs as quickly
as possible. Beginning
Monday, the labor
department staff will
help the workers file
claims for unemploy
ment insurance.
The Georgia Depart
ment of Labor conducts
job search workshops,
career counseling, and
