and they're still ralking. A

As a twenty-five years ()Td

Not necessarily; the truth
is, most people procrasti

Seven tips to help parents teach their kids about money
(NAPSI)-Teaching chil
dren some basic financial
skills will pay off down the
road. Studies show that
kids who learn about
money early in life tend to
be better savers, smarter
spenders and have less
debt-and considering that
as many as 40 pereent of
Americans live beyond
their means, there may be
no better time than now to
teach a few financial
ABCs.
So how many of our kids
are actually financially lit
erate? According to one
study by the JumpSstart
Coalition for Personal
Financial Literacy, not
nearly enough. The group
administered a basic finan
cial literacy test to high
school students and found
that the average score was
just 52.4 percent. Now
imagine those same results
on a statewide reading test
and you can begin to see
the true scope of this prob
lem. Fortunately, there are
plenty of ways parents can
help.

things accomplished.
Remember that time goes
on with or without you. If

what you will have accom

For those who are think

reap any results. By taking
just a few classes at a time,
they put in a litdde bit of
work each day - which inch

Eventually, they reach

Here are some helpful tips
on h()w to avnid haEits that
lead to procrastination:
1) Write your goals down
on paper.
2) &rlinc your goals and
checkpoints on a calendar,
and stick to it
Take them to the bank to
open a savings account to
help them understand that
the money has to actually
be deposited first before
you can take it out.
. Give allowance-Kids
are ready for allowance
when they can start doing
things around the house,
like watering plants or set
ting the table. This begins
to teach fiscal responsibili

- Begin budgeting-Delin

whether they should
3) Learn to feel guilty
when you tell others about
your goals, but do nothing
about them.
4) Be patient about your
goals (many give up after
just 1-2 months)
5) Learn to stop com

energy and time to pursue
your goals.
6) Mecasure your progress
(even if its small), so that
you can be inspired to keep
going.

Oh yes, we wore litde pink

had to have an Easter basket
filled to the brim with licde
