Persistent Burglar Enters Four
Homes and Finally Steals Auto

dences in North Street, this city,
and despite rebuffs carried off
a sedan owned by G. E. Warner,
vice president of the Warner Su
gar Refining Company.

Company.
He was Just poking his head
through Mrs, Hill’s bedroom win
dow on the second floor when
Mrs. Hill entered and screamed.
The burglar vanished.
A short time after he fled,
■ Theodore G. Converse stepped out
' on the porch of his North street
residence and saw a man stand
ing beside Sparked his automobile, which
had been for the night
under the porte cochere.
Mr. Converse set his police dog
after the stranger, who again es
caped, across the lawn.

Washington, Nov. 21.—Twenty
automobiles, seized in 1921 and
1922 by federal prohibition agents
in raids and arrests in the Dis
trict, were sold at public auction
yesterday by authority of Harry
M. Lockett, local divisional prohi
bition chief.
The brought $965.
The cars had rusted and rot
ted during storage, and were
bought for junking rather than
for use.
One automobile went to the
highest bidder for $5.
The bjst price paid for any
car was $230.
Whether the sale prices will
cover the cost of storage of the
automobiles was not known.

New York, Nov. 21.—The used
car market hit greased skids yes
terday at the police department’s
222d auction of confiscated auto
mobiles “as is.”
Prices ranged from 10 cents to
$375, and bidding was fast and
furious among 35 optimists who
coveted the 36 vehicles offered.
