A fish-fry and barbecue.

At the city waterworks plant
at 1 o’clock Friday the “fry” was
given by the Game arid Fish Pro
tective Association of Spalding
County.
The fish were furnished by
President Kell and Young Gray
had charge of the culinary de
partment.
Peter S. Twitty, state game
commissioner was present and de
livered an address urging obser
vance of the game and fish laws.
The barbecue was given by tlje
city, county and state highway
officials and the road gang by
citizens residing in the vicinity
of the newly paved Griffin-Zeb
ulon road in appreciation of this
stretch of paving, including
Frank Scott, Harvey Scott, J. H.
Shackleford, S. E. Shackelford,
Will Hemphill, Emmett Hemp
hill, T. B. Harris, Will Hutson,
Lon Barnett, Dennis Cauthen, J.

NEGRO SHOT.
Roger Reed is dangerously
wounded at the local hospital as
a resul? of a dispute and fight
last night on the road in West
Griffin, having been shot by Tom
Newton. Both are negroes.
Reed works on T. J. Brooks’ place
and Newton is a tenant on Judge
J. J. Flynt’s farm. Newton made
his escape, but officers are on his
trail.

At a meeting of the directors of
the City National Bank and a
meeting for the directors of the
Second National Bank held at
their respective banks on Novem
ber 20th they voted to consolidate
the Second National Bank with
the City National Bank, believing
that by so doing they would be
able to serve the public to better
advantage, as their combined re
sources would enable the them to han
die the business of bank in a
more efficient manner and at less
expense.
This consolidation will of cpurse
have to be approved by the stock
holders of the two banks at a
special meeting called for that
purpose,~and until this is done the
two banks will be operated as
