MASTER SWINDLER
WHO ROBBED FRIENDS
GETS LONG SENTENCE
Chicago, Dec. 4r— Leo Koretz,
master swindler, yesterday was
sentenced to prison for from one
to ten years on the charge of lar
ceny, the first of four charges to
which he pleaded guilty yesterday.
Koretz, who took $2,000,000
from relatives, friends and others
whom he entrapped in his Bayano
river oil promotion here, heard the
sentence without show of ^motion,
as it was pronounced by Chief
Justice Hopkins. Those to follow
were the sentences on the charges
of confidence game and larceny.
Koretz was given the same sen
tence on two of the remaining
three charges. The sentences will
run concurrently.
