A PHYSICAL EXAM
Atlanta, ■
Dec. 10.—As the re
sult of legislation passed by the
last session of the Georgia gener
al assembly, every barber in the
state of Georgia will be required
to stand a physical examination
before he will be issued a license
to practice his profession in this
state, according to Charles E.
Coffrey, president of the Georgia
Board of Barber Examiners.
The reason for this legislation,
as explained by Mr. Coffrey, is
to prohibit- the licensing of bar
bers who may be affected with
diseases that are incurable, and
that would be dangerous to pa
trons of their shops.
If an applicant for a 1925 li
cense can stand a thorough medi
cal examination, it is pointed out
by the president of the board, he
will then be issued his license for
next year, it is stated.

is very helpful to the cotton mills
of Georgia, Alabama and.adjoin

“1 regret, therefore, to observe
the action taken by the legal au
thorities in endeavoring to close
up this institution, for its de

only to Atlanta, but to “this en

WINNER IN TAX
New York, Dec. 10.—The sec
ond victory for the press in the
three suits brought by the gov
ernment to test the right of news
papers to publish income tax pay
ments is that of the New York
Herald-Tribune, which was ac
quitted by a jury in United States
district court here upon the in
Aruction of Federal Judge Knox.
Tried By Jury.
The suit against the New York
Tribune, Inc., publisher of the
Herald-Tribune, is the only suit
thus far to be tried by a jury, and
Judge Knox advised the jury that
under his interpretation of the
statute, the only possible verdict
was.an acquittal of the defendant
on the charge of unlawfully print
ing tax returns. The court added
that it wanted the government to
be in a position to appeal imme
diately to the United States su
preme court.
Hayward Will Appeal.
United States Attorney Hay
ward said he would appeal at
once to the supreme court under
the criminal appeals act—a course
made possible because the facts
were undisputed and the case in
volved only a question of law.
