ATLANTA (UPI)—The Atlan
ta Inquirer, a Negro newspaper,
Thursday denounced the Student
Non-violent Coordinating Com
mittee’s Viet Nam position.
The newspaper, which sup
ported SNCC in civil rights, said
most Atlanta Negroes also dis
agree with 6NCC on this issue.
“We oppose SNCC’s state
ment,” the Inquirer said.
Newspaperman Lumpkin Dead i
ATHENS, Ga. (UPD-Bryan
Carr Lumpkin, 66, former man
aging editor of The Athens Ban
