Especially For Women
Some Women
Seem Younger
Women who appear to be younger than they are have
lots of things in common. Notice that —
They all have at least one sport in which they are inter
ested—or they get regular exercise gardening or walking.
They heap experimenting with their hair and their make
up so that for them today’s look is the look that does the
most for them.
They study fashion with a keen eye to see what they can
and can’t wear becomingly, instead of making themselves
look older by trying to wear styles that only the very
young can wear successfully.
They find time for friends—some older, some their
own age, some younger — which helps keep them from
thinking exactly like those their own age whose friends are
limited to a small group, all about the same age.
They are usually busy learning something new, taking a
course at the Recreation Department in ceramics, or knit
ting, or bridge, or anything worthwhile “just for fun.’*
They always seem to be making plans for the future.
They are wise enough to accept their age as a challenge
and have set about doing some of the things they used to
tell themselves they would do when they “had time’’.
They are not bored themselves, so they don’t bore you!
This Just
Might Work
American missionaries have finally established friendly
contact with a tribe of savage Auca Indians who 12 years
ago killed five members of the missionary group in the
jungle wilds of Ecuador.
The breakthrough was achieved by the missionaries fly
ing over the jungle in a light plane equipped with a loud
speaker.
Speaking through the loudspeaker was a young Auca
Indian girl who has become civilized. On each overflight
she assured her fellow tribesman that the plane and the
missionaries meant no harm but wished to help them.
Small transmitters were dropped to the Indians, and the
girl explained through the loudspeaker how to use the
device. A few weeks ago an Indian picked up a trans
mitter and hesitatingly spoke a few words of friendship.
The incident is mentioned here in the thought that per
haps Secretary Rusk and the Senate Foreign Relations
Committee may hear of it.

VALDOSTA DAILY TIMES
It is about time the people of Georgia demand their re
presentatives and state senators start acting with a bit of
dignity.
It is about time the people of Georgia demand the mem
bers of the House and Senate act as men instead of being
involved in childish bickering. . . .
The taxpayers of Georgia spend thousands of dollars
each year to keep the Senate and House in session for 40
days....
What do the taxpayers get? They get fist fights on the
House floor, long-winded oratory, bursts of anger and de
tailed resolutions on who left the phone off the hook, lots
of meaningless legislation, public bodies meeting behind
closed doors.
In short, the taxpayer gets shortchanged. He gets child’s
play rather than men’s work....

Decisions
How can we determine God’s
leading in our lives, so we can
make decision in accordance
with His will? R.E.
First of all, we should place
ourselves at God’s disposal by
submitting ourselves to His will,
whatever that may be. Next, we
should ask Him for clear gui
dance. Then, we should watch
for “open doors” of opportunity.
Sometimes God closes doors we
would like to be opened, and
opens doors that aren’t so pleas
ing to us. For example, Jesus
shrunk from the cross, and pray
ed, “If it be possible, let this
cup pass from my lips.” But He
added, just as we should do,
“Nevertheless, not my will, but
thine be done.” God’s path is not
always the most pleasant, nor
the most comfortable, but it is
always the best for us and oth
ers.
This matter of finding the will
of God for our lives is the most
important question a Christian
faces. I know good men, who,
failing to find their real niche
in God’s kingdom, lead frustra
ted and fruitless lives. I have kn
own people with great gifts, who
had a potential for tremendous
somehow they were unable to
service in God’s kingdom, but
see clearly the Divine pathway,
and their lives were not bless
ed as they might have been if
they had prayed, “Not my will,
but thine be done.”
Personally, I find that if I take
an hour in the morning to medi
tate on God’s Word, and com
mune with Him in prayer, that
He gives me clear directions for
that particular day. I feel frus
tration only when I neglect re
gular contact with Him. The Ps
almist says: “A good man’s
steps are ordered of the Lord”
and we should therefore pray
for a clean heart, for it is to
these He makes His will and way
known.

Thought For Today
A thought for the day:
American educator Vennever
Bush said. “The scene changes
but the aspirations of men of
good will persist."

Perspective, the impres

achieved through the use of
a vanishing point, the point
