HEMISFAIR FLOWERS BLOOM on a bright navy
background (left) in this Westway Petites pantdress.
Two tiers of ruffles hide the pants. A bright red bow ac
cents the collar. Nardis of Dallas likes the look of the
’3os for traveling to HemisFair (right). The double
breasted jacket has short sleeves for warm days. It is in
polyester doubleknit for easy care.

of hair braids, seed pearls and
crystals held her silk illusion
veil.

POLLY’S POINTERS
Moldy Taste
fljf **• Mr
<
DEAR POLLY — I imagine
Ema. who has the syrup with a
moldy taste, means maple sy
rup. Put syrup in a pot large en
ough so It will not boil over.
Bring to a boil and simmer for
about 10 minutes. Spoon off the
scum that forms on top. Cool and
use and you will find the moldy
taste has gone. — H.E.P.
DEAR POLLY — Ema should
bring her syrup to a boil in a
large kettle and boil for about
three minutes. Drop in the white
of an egg and bring to a boll
again. All the mold and impuri
ties will rise to the top and she
can skim it off with a metal
spoon. — MRS. D.A.
DEAR POLLY — Tell Erna
that she should keep her syrup,
after the bottle has once been
opened, in the refrigerator to
keep mold from forcing. —
DONNA
DEAR POLLY — Can anyone
give me a remedy for floors that
are badly marred, scratched
and shrunken so that the boards
do not meet? — CLARA
DEAR POLLY — My mother
is a nurse and she always drops
a marble into her bottle of white
Fashion Tips
Peasant fabrics for fall and
winter feature primary colors,
simplicity in design, folklore pat
terns. Indian, Scandinavian,
Mexican embroideries among
the peasant cloths feature clas
sic weaves with a more primi
tive, more forthright, more dir
ect approach to design.
Grandmothers looking for a
very special dress for little prin
cesses will like white Victor
ian dresses in embroidered bat
iste and lace trimmed pique.
Typical of the look: a high neck
ed, long sleeves embroidered ba
tiste dress sashed low in pale
blue satin. Another is an empire
ribbon sashed pique midi dress
with puff sleeves and lacy pan
taloons.

DEAR POLLY — When sew
ing insignia on Boy Scout or oth
er uniform pockets, cut a piece
or cardboard to fit inside the
pocket and then there is no dan
ger of sewing through to t h e
shirt itself. — DALE
DEAR POLLY — When roast
ing marshmallows, first dip the
fork or stick into butter or mar
garine. The marshmallows will
not stick or lose their shape
when removed. — AGNES
DEAR POLLY — I travel
with my evangelist husband. I
hang my dresses, at the waist
line, over the bar of a hanger
and they fit in a man’s suit car
rier, which is much easier to
handle and hang in the car. Dr
esses do not need pressing be
fore wearing. — MRS. K.
