Rev. Ficklen Guinn performed
the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Omer
Tankersley of Lincolnton, Ga.
The groom is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Kenneth Eldo Ford of 1202
East College street, Griffin.
The bride was given in
marriage by her father.
A program of nuptial music
was presented by Mrs. Janelle
Hawes, organist.
Mr. Kenneth Ford served as
his son’s best man. Ushers were
Mr. Richard Ford, brother of
the groom, Mr. Wayne

The Rev. and Mrs. J. U. Little
Williamson Church
honors Rev. Little
The Williamson United
Methodist Church honored the
Rev. J. U. Little with a tea on
his retirement from the
ministry.
The tables in the annex of the
church were covered with lace
cloths. A three tiered cake
centered one table flanked on
each side with a candelabra.
Punch, nuts and cheese straws
were served from another table.
The Rev. Paul Wilson praised
the Rev. Little for his
ministerial work. Mrs. Violet
Brown presented the Rev. and
Mrs. Little with a money tree.
She remakred on the spiritual
growth of the church under his
guidance.
Mrs. Courtney Austin and
Mrs. Bryan Whitehurst served
as hostesses for the tea. Those
assisting in serving were Mrs.
Dale Bowen, Misses Lynn
Harrison and Lil Whitehurst.
The guest book was kept by
Mrs. Bobby Harrison. Members
of the local churches and of the
churches Rev. Little had served
attended the tea.
The Rev. J. U. Little retires
from pastoral work after ser
ving 27 years as a supply pastor.
During these 27 years he
worked as textile chemist and a
pastor. He was licensed to
preach by the Troy District of
the Alabama Conference in 1946.
Shortly thereafter, he and his
wife, Agnes, and their daughter,
Jean, moved to Manchester,
Ga., where he was employed by
Callaway Mills, and where he

Phillips celebrated their 25th
Wedding Anniversary with a
party given by Mr. and Mrs.
Phillip C. Rooks and Mr. and
Mrs. Ricky F. Varnom, July 1 at
City Park.
A three-tiered white cake
decorated with silver roses was
served to the couple and their
guests.
Those present were Mrs.
Fannie Callahan, Mr. and Mrs.
Gleaton Love, Mark Crawford,
Chuck Parker

3rd birthday
Charles (Chuck) Parker, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Charles G.
Parker of Route Four, Jackson
road, Griffin, was honored on
his third birthday with a party
at his home.
He was born on July 4 but
celebrated his birthday a few
days early because his family
was to be out of town on his birth
date.
Guests included his grand
parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Raymond Parker and Mr. and
Mrs. Chester McGahee and his
grandparents, Mr. and Mrs.
Howard McGahee.
Youngsters attending were
Johnathan Parker, Kensy
Nichols, Denny Clark, Haley
Gunnels, Lori Dunn and Deneen
Dunn, Melissa Huff, Tim Huff,
Reggia Crane, Steve Crane,
Renee Cook, Steven Cook.
Adult guests included Mrs.
Gayle Cook, Tony Maddox, Mr.
and Mrs. Bobby Dunn, Mr. and
Mrs. Wallace Granger, Miss
Paula Clark, Mrs. Vickie Kidd,
Mr. and Mrs. Oliver and Mrs.
Jane Huff.

Bethesda and Raleigh
Methodist Churches in the
LaGrange District and con
tinued to served until 1950. At
that time he moved to Bar
nesville, Ga., where he was
employed by the William Carter
Company.
He served as pastor of the
Thomaston Circuit in the Griffin
District which consisted of
Zions Chapel, Thomaston, Ga.;
Century Nelson, Vega, Ga.; and
Ebenez, Barnesville, Ga. In
1951, he began serving as pastor
of Mt. Zion Methodist Church,
Zetella, Ga.
In 1953, Pomona Methodist
Church was added to make up a
four Sunday charge. He con
tinued to serve these two
churches until 1963. At that time
he became Associate Pastor of
the Milner Methodist Church
and served in this capacity until
1967.
In 1968, he served as
Associate Pastor to the Lamar
Circuit, preaching at Pleasant
Hill, Aldora, and Williamson
Methodist Churches. In 1969, he
became pastor of the
Williamson Methodist Church
and served through June, 1973.
In 1972 he became employed by
American Mills, Jackson, Ga.,
where he is still employed as
Manager of Fabrics
Manufactory.
During these 27 years he was
also active in civic affairs. He is
a past Scout Master, and also
past president of the Bar
nesville Rotary Club.

Miss Betty Jean Folds, to Mr.
Bennie Karan Clay, son of Mr.
and Mrs. William H. Clay of
Griffin.
The bride-elect is the grand
daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Charlie H. Folds of Griffin, and
Mrs. Allie Cook Hudgins of
Griffin and the late Mr. Walter
T. Hudgins.
Miss Folds is a 1970 graduate
of Griffin High School and is
employed with the State Merit
System in Atlanta.
Mr. Clay is the grandson of
Mr. and Mrs. Silas Hestley of
Montecello, Ga. and the late Mr.
and Mrs. Henry Clay.
He is a 1970 graduate of
Griffin High School, and is
employed with Dundee Mills of
Griffin.

to wed Mr. Abbott
Mr. James Inas Padgett and
Mrs. Charlotte Helton announce

daughter, Regina Gay Padgett,
to Johnny Paul Abbott, son of
