Rockdale, were also-rans in
regular season play, hummph.
Some coaches around the
region consider Rockdale the
most improved team.
One successful coach wasn’t
mislead by the Rockdale build
up. “Rockdale is improved. But
has it improved enough to beat
Griffin? After all, Griffin beat
them one time,” he said,
hummph.
Griffin must now prove again
that it is the best.
My zillions of followers
I .. .♦ *
The old boy himself
thought I skipped town after
Griffin completed its season.
Yours truly, the famous football
forecaster, was deluged by
telegrams, seeking an assess
ment of the championship
game, hummph.
I didn’t slip out of town. I took
a couple of days off to rest my
brain, which was overworked.
My spies (coaches call them
scouts) went to work, gathering
information on Rockdale im
mediately after the Bulldogs
beat the Newnan Cougars to win
the Division I, 6-AAA title.
The reems of information
concerning players, coaches,
waterboys, managers and even
the cheerleaders plus some
technical data on the wishbone
formation filled a cardboard
box.
After throwing out the worth
less material and condensing
the rest, the useable facts were
noted on one small piece of
paper.
The usuable facts on Griffin
filled two notebooks, haff-gaff.
After comparing the informa
tion, it was fed into a miniature
computer, which I constructed
during lunch-break last Tues
day, haff-gaff.
The computer findings were
then figured on a slide-rule.
The slide-rule gave me a
prediction.
That prediction was compar
ed with the one shown by a
crystal ball. There was a differ
ence.
All of that work was wasted
when I tossed the results in a
trash can and figured the score
in my well-rested brain,
hummph.
Here is the results of five
minutes of concentration:
Griffin 27 Rockdale 15.

Georgia Bulldogs
going to Tangerine
ORLANDO, Fla. (UPI) -
The high scoring Georgia
Bulldogs will line up against
stingy, unbeaten Miami of Ohio
Dec. 21 in the Tangerine Bowl.
The Orlando Sentinel reported
in today’s editions that Georgia
voted Wednesday to accept the
bid. The paper said the
formality of a vote by the
athletic committee was sche
duled for today after which an
official announcement would be
made.
It will be a repeat perfor
mance for Miami which au
tomatically received a bid when
it won the Mid-American
Conference title again this
year. Last year, Miami beat
another Southeastern Confer
ence entry, Florida, 16-7.
Georgia is fr 4 this season
with only a nonconference
game with state rival Georgia
Tech remaining on its schedule.
Miami is 9-0-1, unbeaten in 22
games and ranked 12th in the
nation.
When Miami Coach Dick
Crum heard Georgia had voted
to accept, he said: “I think
that’s great. Georgia is a good
football team and one that’s

Veteran Georgia Coach Vince
Dooley returned the com
pliment.
“I’m very pleased that the
team voted to accept,” he said.
“The fact that it’s on television
and the fact we would have a
wonderful challenging opponent
makes the Tangerine Bowl very
attractive to us.”
The game pits a swarming
Miami defense that ranks fifth
in the nation—allowing just 7.6
points per game—against the
Southeastern Conference’s most
productive scorers. Georgia is
averaging more than 30 points
a game.
