from Spalding Square.

ATLANTA (UPI) - The
unbeaten Wheeler Wildcats took
first place in the final United
Press International Board of
Coaches high school football
poll.
Wheeler received 100 points
in this week’s poll after running
its record to 11-0 with a 34-20
victory last week over Douglas
County.
Columbus, a 27-0 winner over
Warner Robins last week,
polled 90 points to hold on to
the No. 2 position.
; Once-beaten Thomasville
ended up in the No. 3 spot with
76 points after a 41-0 shutout of

Undefeated Groves had 48
points and moved up one notch
in the latest poll trouncing
Beach 44-0 last Friday.
Richmond Academy vaulted
from tenth place last week to
the No. 5 position in the latest
poll. The Musketeers gathered
42 points with a 9-1 record.
There was a three-way tie for
sixth place with Carrollton,
Mary Persons and Rockdale
County all receiving 30 points.
Mary Persons remained un
defeated last Friday with a 26-
21 victory over Mt. de Sales.
Carrollton and Rockdale Coun
ty, both with 9-1 records were
not scheduled last week.
Lakeside (8-2) beat Berkmar
14-0 last Friday to end in a tie
with Griffin (9-1) with 26 points
apiece. Griffin did not play last
week.
All ten ranked teams in the
UPI poll won their respectiwe
regional championships.
Playoff games involving the
top ten teams this week are:
Groves vs. Wayne County,
Rockdale County vs. Griffin,
Lakeside vs. Henderson, Mary
Persons vs. Cochran and
Carrollton vs. Bowdon.
