from the system the very seeds of disease,

condition of the organs of life to a free and
healthy exercise of their functions, has exci
ted the astonishment, and completely silen
ced the objections of the moat incredulous—
Faeli are the best arguments. In order to put
the virtues of the Catholicon to aa severe a
scrutiny as pusaibrei it was offered by adver
tisement, together with the attendance of a
physician, gratuitously to any peram who
would apply for it, and whose cause might
leemtu come within the range of its healing
power—numbers of severe cases of long stand
ing, and some of them seemingly desperate
onca, pro ented themselves, all of which have
been cured, or so much relieved aa to warrant
the assertion that a little perseverance wiil do
so. In fact, auclt is the confidence of the phyei -
cian under whose care these putienta were
placed, in this remedy, a confidence result
ing from Ihe irresistible conviction that has
been forced upon hia mind by ocular demon
stration, and a personal trial of it on hiinaelf
that he permits me to declare it aa hia deci
ded opinion, that the Catholicon is not only a
perfectly safe and innocent, but a most pow
erful and invaluable remedy in certain dia-
eiMS and states of the a; stem, such as the fal
lowing :—
Debility reaulting from intemperance and
diasipation i Olu and inveterat- Uieera. Fains

joints; Indigestion, Blot-hes on the face,
pimples, ha. i All complaints of the Liver i

plaint!.
The Catholicon (which the proprieter sol
emnly pledges bis word consists exclusively
of vegetable matter) with the exception of a
alight determi ution to the bowela, which it
preserves in a soluble state, acts insensibly, is
pleasant to the taste, and requires no particu
lar regimen, (abstinence from spirtuous li
quors always excepted,) or confinement. Aa

Mr. W W. Potter,
Dear Sir—You expressed a wish that I
would give a concise statement of my anffer-
inga, from • the hopeless commencement, to
the present propitious stage of my disease.’
About five years ago, on my passage from
Bordeaux, during the month of January, from
imprudent exposure on deck, I was seised
with a violent fever Having no medical at-
tendants on board, I was compelled to bear
■L as I might for two weeks, when on my ar
rival at Charleston, S, C. it was treated aa
Typhus. The skill of my Physician subdued
the fever, but Pbmnix-like, the termination
of thii gave ris* to a disease .equally distrear-
lag, and which, till now, I had thought incur*
able. Varioua abscesses made their unwel
come appearance, particularly on the joints,
which were swelled to an enormous aize.—
1‘bese gradually subsided into hard tu-nors,
one of which on my left knee affected the
bone—an incision was now made and a large
evacuation of pua, mised with pieces of bone
took place. In addition to this, 1 suffered the
must excruciating pains in my joints that man
ever experienced. Every thing- that wn*
ad ministered either gave me no reliefer ser
ved to aggravate the disease, the seventy of
which increased with every succeeding year.
Such was my painful nit uation that I despaired
of ever being restored to my heal h ; I hud
not only tried ,.the regular means of relief,
hut used, though in vain, every popular rem
edy 1 could hear on It was in tbit awful and
despond-ng condition,that I was persuude l to

of the two bottles, my whole system has under
gone a complete rcvoluiims, my pains hqpe fo S i.
he i me/” the discharge from my knee began
>o dimmish, and soon ceased altogether, the
ulcer from whence it proceeded being cam
pletely healed. The tumors, for the removal
of which I have tried io vain more remedies
than I can name, arc rapidly decreasing i my
appetite, which was gone, lias returned—1 am
in fact, nearly well, and feel confident that a
few boltles more of ycur, (to me) invaluable
medicine, will in ike me peneedy so.

SWAIM'S PANACEA.
T HIS medicine ia offered as a remedy for
Scrofula or King’s Evil, Ulcerated Sore
Throat,long atanding rheumatic affections/Jut.
aiieounDlaeasea, WhiteSwelling and disease of
the Bones, and all cases generally of an ulcer
ous character, and Chronic diseases .rising in
debilitated conititutioos, but more especially
for Syphiiia, or affections arising the: ofr»in :
Ulcers of the Larynx, Nodea, Ac., and that
dreadful disease occasioned by a lung and ex
cessive use of Mercury, Ac- Ac.—It has also
been found useful in Diseaaes of the Liver, ,
In a'l disordeta arising from am impu'e or
cuntamincted state of the blood, it v.ill be
found a powerful and an effectual remedy—
Tho discovery of this medicine has been the
effect of long and attentive itudy, and it is
now ma le public from the must decided con
viction, founded on ample experience, of its
power in eradicating those diauaacD, after eve
ry other mrficinehas failed.
It cannot, however, be supposed, that thii
Pairaria will invariably cure—Ihe most es
teemed medicines, employed by the Faculty,
will often fail in the very diseaaes for which
they ave considered specifics f but if the use
of it be. perseu rcd in, it w ill radically remove
almost every cause cf the disorders specified.
Thousand arc lingering under those complaints
in some form, linking to the grave, without
a remedy, whom this medicine would certain
ly restore to perfect health and vigour. Its
safety ar.d innocence have been fully tested,
ao tli.t it may be administered to the tender-
cst infant. The most distinguished plrysi.
ciaus in the United States recommend it, and
admit, that a more important discovery in me
dical science has not been ir aile; and to uae
the language of-me of the most eminent Pro-
fe-snts of the age, ir it a triumph in the heal
ing art. To the present ami rising genera
tions the benefit must prove incalcul.ble, not
only by saving many valuable lives, but im
parting strength and soundness to ilehiliir.ted
and corrupted cunstituiions, thereby preserving
their offsp: ing from hereditary diseases. These
fieta, together with ihe numerous cures made
form irresistible proof of the high value of this
remedy. No one, however, is a i vised to take
it, without first fuily convincing himself of
the truth of what is here stated, and the rcc-
litude of the Proprietor*, intentions.
The cures performed in '.his citv alone, m
tablish its superior virtue on sharia too solid
to be affected by the malignity of Re envious
—It ia worthy of nmark, that the greater
part of the patients who have been perms '
nently cured, had, previous to the Pioprie-
tor’a undertaking them, received the ablest
aisistanee, and aeveral were abandoned, bv
their Phyriciant, aa being beyond the reach of
human skill. Such io the fact, and so extraor
(linury were many of the cases that an exhibition
was made of them in Ihe University of Pi mi
sylvania, by Ihe Professor of Surgery, before a
crowded audience of Students, who pronounced
them wonders in the healing art. It has been
introduced into the Philadelphia AIm3 House
and Pennsylvania and New-York Hospitals,
and auch were its surprising effects—its suc
cess after all other medicines Imd failed, that
the Surgeon of the Pennsylvania Hospital,
Dr. Wm. Price, Was induced to abandon his
highly reapt crahle office, from the laudable
design of benefiting Ins follow creatures, by
carrying Ihe Panacea to England; where it
has already superseded the use of the genu
ine French Rob of Lafacteur in a number of
inatancea, in diseases for which that ia intend
ed, and its virtues are publicly acknowledged
by some of the moat eminent Surgeons there.
In all complicated cases of Scrofula and
Syphilis, and where the Syphilitic Virus of
the parent cauaciidevelopementnfScrofuli
in the child, thii is the only remedy upon
which a single hope of recovery can be rea-
sonably founded ; there hu been no instance
of Its failure, where properly uied. It im
part! vigour to the whole system while the
is usually withheld from tie iofferer. j n g,,
