of Win. Dudley Digges, Esq. in Prince
George’s county, Md. Major Pierre Chas.

but eccentric gentleman, we have no accu
rate knowledge ; but it could not have fal
len short ot seventy years. During our re
volutionary war, ho wae nn officer of En
gineers, and in that capacity was severely
wounded at the attack upon Savannah, and
was tho Inst of the wounded token out of
the ditch.
In Paris, in the Kingdom of France, on
the 2d lilt. Dr. Aham Skrukrt, ofPhiladel-
pliia, formerly a very respectable Repre
sentative in Congress, and the author of
the work upon the Statistics of the United
States, which has been so much approved.
In Beaufort, S. C. on the 23d of May
last after a long and painful indisposition,
the Rev. Mason L, Weems, of Dumfries,
(Va ) well known as the author of the life
of Washington, and various other popular
Works, which have passed through numer
ous editions, and have had a most extensive
circ-latinn, He was a man of very consid
erable attainments both as a scholar, a phy
sician. sml divine. His philanthropy and
benevolence were unbounded.

son’s advertisement 1 know nothing of, they
get the medicine in New-York, I will writo
to them about it—1 did not authorise them
lu advertise so certainly require some no
tice. Without adverting, however, to the
motives which dictated or led to the publi
cation of such a production, we would in
answer, beg to submit the draft collected
some days since by Messrs. S. Si M. Allen
& Co. of this city, in payment for the very
purchase which is boldly denied, and which
we presume will serve as a quietus for both
gentlemen. By a reference to the adver
tising columns in the Georgian, it will be
perceived that we never advertised as Mr.

S UPPOSED to have been between Bay-
street and the South Common, and lie-
wnen the liours of 2 in the forenoon and
in the evening, the following notes, say
60 bill of the Bank of Darien (this note
was in two halves and watered together to
a piece of white paper) also three notes of
the State Bank of Georgia of filly dollars
each ; these notes were all rolled up to
gether in a piece of whitepaper, and must
have fell out ofthe pantaloon pocket. The
finder will be very liberally rewarded by
