County of Chathuin, haying recommended an
additional tax to aid in the support of common
schools, the fund* assigned by tlm State for
that purpose proving entirely inadequate to olfcct
the object* intended to be accomplished, the Jus
tices of Iho Inferior Cih»ti, desirous of comply
ing with this recommendation, but without resort-
iug to uu increase of the present taxes, have de
cided to make an appropriation for tlmt object
from the present revenues of Die county.
It is therefore ordered, That the interest de
rived from the sum of six thousand dollars, re
ceived for the old Jail and lots, und now vested in
Public Stocks, beam) is hereby appropriated ami
set apart, together with such further sum to be
paid out of the County treasury, ns shall umkotip
tlio amount ofyiee hundred dollars unnunlly, be
paid to llio Commissioner* of Common Schools,
to bo appropriated by them with tlm concurrence
of the Justices of tlm Inferior Court, In the sev
eral District schools, in such proportion* ns shall

less, that the inhabitant* of uach district shall
cause one or more convenient und proper sehool
