October 15, 18-17—Tho (hand Jury of tlio
Comity of Chatliuiu, having recommended an
additional tax to aid in the mipport of common
schools, the funds assigned by the State fur
that purpose proving entirely inadequate to elFect
the objects intended to bo accomplished, the Jus
tices of the Inferior Court, desirous of comply
ing witii this recommendation,hut without resort
ing to an inereasu of the present taxus, have de
cided to make an appropriation for that object
from the present revenues of thu couuty.
It is therefore ordered, That the interest de
rived from the sum of six thousund dollars, re
ceived for the old Jail and lots, and now vested in
Pnlitir St..raU«, i.o mill i,. hereby nppiopnuleit and
set apart, together with such rtirtlior sum to bo
paid out of the County treasury, as shull make up
the niuoiiiit of fee hundred dollars annually, be
puid to tho Commissioners of Common Schools,
to ho appropriated by them with tlio concurrence
of the Justices of the Inferior Court, to tho sev
