Cuuiily of Chatham, having recommended an
additional tax to aid in tlio support of common
schools, the funds nssigued by the State for
that pnrposo proving entirely inadequate tb effect
the objects intended to ho accomplished, tho Jus
tice* of the Inferior Court, desirous of comply
ing with this recommendation, but without resort
ing to an increase of tho present taxes, have de
cided to tnuko nn appropriation for tlmt object
from the present revenues of tho county.
It is therefore ordered, That the interest de
rived from tho sum of six thousand dollars, ro-
coived fbr tho old Jail ntld lots, and now vested in
Public Stocks) ho nnd is hereby appropriated and
set npurt, together with such fiirthor sum to he
paid out of the County treasury, a* shall makeup

paid to tlio Commissioners of Common Schools,
