T HE WIFE’S FRIEND.—Important
to those about to become Mothers.—- Professor
ALEXIS V. PAULITAN, ofthe Paris Lying-in
Hospital, tiiembor of tho Medical Academy of*
France, Corresponding Secretary of tho 'Paris
Pharmaceutical College, rcspecimlly begs leave
to anritnnee to the Ladies of America, thuthe
lias appointed Dr. Jerome Y. C. Ropenhurty,
of New York, his. sole American Agent, for the
sale of his wonderful medicine, known in France
as The Wife's Friend, or Mother’s Assistant tho
most extraordinary medical discovery the world
has ever seen. Its province is to Lessen tho
Pains of Child-Birth, and promote a safe, onsy,
and speedy delivery, which it docs hy assisting
nature. It is perfectly harmless, efficacious,
pleasant to the .taste, und never fails lo promote
ail easy and safe delivery, and improves the gen
eral health of both mother nnd child. It lias been
tested for vears in alltheprincipal Lying-In Hos
pitals of Europe, and receives tho sanction of
nearly all the prominent Colleges and Medical
men of the old world. * It is the greatest uiediciuo
in the world ; as nil will admit that n medicine
must be thatwill lessen the terrible pains usiiully
atteudanton childbirth. There is no mistake a-
bout this niediciuc doing all tliatis said of it.
It never fails. It is iu tho form of a fine, light
powder, to be made into a drink, nnd used for a
lew weeks previous to the expected event, and
its price is so low ns to bring it within the reach
ofull. Surely no humane husband will suffer
his wife to endure pain, when itcan bo so easily
nnd cheaply avoided. For the small sum of only
$1,00. sent post paid to DR. JEROME Y. C.
ROPENHURTY, New York Post Office, a
package will lie sent by return mail, it being so
light that it can be sent anywhere by mail, at a
very trifling cost. USTNo unpaid letters taken
from the office. To prevent imposition. tlieU.

opinion.—M’Mackin’s Philadelphia Modal

Doctor Wiley’s Celebrated Cough Candy is
truly an excellent article. Read what it says:
“A Vulnnbld Article.—Those suffering from

magical in its operations upon tbo affection.”
Thq above, from snch a source, we think Is

inline. , , . .
Having prepared tho article to ray satisfoction.
( gave it away tu.uil who would use it. Hun
dreds, 1 might say thousands, took if into tlicir
families and used it; some far one thing and
sown Cor another, and all from tha very first to
the vary last, pronounced it of unrivaled excel-
ence und power,
Tiie first case that came under my observation,
was.a man that had lost Uio use. uf his arm for
some years. .The Ointment restored his erm
completely in o few days. This surprised me as
much ns it did tho patient. Alter linn Iherecame
a man with sore eyes produced by gunpowder—a
very® case indeed. One hoi only sufficied to
make a perfect euro. And I would hero 'remark
tliut hundreds hnve been cured of sore oyce
who never found any rohof hut in tnis Oint
ment.
There naxtenme a wamnn who was suffering
excruciating pain from the ague in tho face —
Her physician (thinking it the toothaohe,) hod
oxlructod eleven of her teeth. But'the difficulty
rtiil remained as bod as ever. Tho Application
of the All Healing Ointment was attended with
immediate cessation of pain. Herfuce however
began to swell, and the eurfhee Was covered over
with pimples of eruption like prickly heat. In
one day nil this disappeared. About the some
time, a lady inodo application with it for tho
hendnehe of long standing, und a fulling of the
hair. Tho Ointment cured her heedochc, and
restored her hair. Since this, I have known the
Ointment to cure cases of ten, twenty and forty
years standing, . I hesitate not to say, that it is
almost an infallible remedy for this complaint.
About this tiino tlioro wore two cases, one of
Consumption, and the other of Scrofhlo, which
had baffled the skill ot ovary physician who pres
cribed. It was wonderful to witness tho effector
the Ointment on these persons. No one would
believe it unleBs they hud peraonolly witnessed it.
Blit It did the work properly. There was no half
way business, for they recovered their health in a
few raonthe.
Sheumotism, Fever, Quiniy, Sore Throat, Cu-
loneons Eruptions, diseased of the Spine, and
Nervous Coinplnints were treated with unheard
or success. Butin Chest diseases, such at Asth
ma, pain and oppression, I believo there is no bel-
tor remedy, Also, the common diseases, such at
Ulcsr Sores, Scold Hoad, Humors of tho Skin
Inflammation, Piles, Sore Eyes, Sprains, Bruises
end Burns, it seems to be a perfect antidote —
People would como into tho store Bluffing, wish
mg to know if I was roully tho Seventh Bon, or
whether tho Ointment that I gave them was Indeed
all-i|oahng tn its nature. For said thoy, not one
singleopnlicution hos failed to cure. '
Liver Complaint, particularly, wus treated with
great and universal success.
It produced such good rcsulta iu oil cases that il
has been liaised abroad, and I was offered sums of
money for a receipt to make it for private use
merely. Every men spolto well of it, us it hod
done so much good.
Notwithstanding all, I hove been cnrofttl notto
roconinicn d n exeept in coses I know it would do
good. I was never willing to lond myself to onv
thing Without first testing its merits. This I en
deavor to da on ovary occasion, and when I acted
as one of the Sick Coinmilteo in the Lodge of I.
O. of O. F. I then tested it upon Brothers in tiie
most critical conditiond, nnd laid obmidant upper
(unity of proving its worth.
And, in conclusion, I would remark that I have
Pi mod this Ointment before tiie people of the U.
States during the lust nine or twelve months, and
so general has been the satisfaction, ond so great
amount of good dono, that more thun half amil),
mu of boxes have nlroudy been sold. I dttrcolly
believe there never wus a medicine which gained
such widespread, universal and lilioniinoUs satis
fuctiou ns tho All-Healing Ointment. From all
parts of the laud there have come up one deep
sincere and universal voicoof approbation onying
•‘McAlister thy tongue hath dropped the word of
truth end love, while, houltli forever attends thy
loo steps.' And were I now to give all the good
sayings of the people, their unqualified approval,
llieirtlmiikfiiluess and gratitude, their joy at rocov
ering from discuso nnd sickness, I could fill s
volume. James McAi,ister, Now York.
