rpiIE WIFE’S FRIEND.—Important
A to those about to become Mothers.—Professor
ALEXIS V. PAULITAN, of the Palis Lying-in
Hospital, member of tho Medical Academy of
France, Corresponding Secretary of the Paris
Pharmaceutical College, respectfully begs leuvu
to minoiince to the Ladies of America, that he
lias appointed Dr. Jerome Y. C. IIopk.vuurty,
of New York, his solo Amcricau Agent, for the
sale of his wonderful medicine, known in France
as The Wife’s Friend, or Mother’s Assistant the
most extraordinary medical discovery the world
has ever seen. Its province is to Lessen the

VirHEAl.JNGOINTMENT.—Aopuitneye i
1817,1 was living inthe* western part of this State,
pursuing the occupation Of a farmer. One day
while chopping in the woods, I foolishly chopped
my foot ireftHy off, instead of the tree. During
this misfortune I employed myself in perusing the
fragment leaves of an old volume, printed in Eng
land some hundred years ago. Among tliero
scattered leaves I read ofau herb which Imdbieh
analyzed by some ’AT Eaglatal 1 * ancient Alche
mists. shewing properties and qualities never beJ
fore found in any p ant that was eV6r discovered.
This one herb, under the force of the Retort
and Crucible, developed more than ten distinct
properties. This fact struck my mind so forcibly,
that it was impossible to get rid of it. Something
seemed to tell me that Providence, whose spec.d
care is extended towards all his creatures, hud
never concentrated into one small herb so many
medicinal qualities, as various und as complicated,
I though perfectly identical as the human blood,
without a wise and good purpose. Hero was to
be found the acids, the alkalis, the oils, the water,
the air, the salts, the shdn, &c., all combined,toon-
centrated, nnd cheinic&Uy united into one single
•lenient of power, forming u substance more al
lied and in affinity to the human blood than was
ever before discovered in tho works of nature.
Laboring under these impressions for several
years, I becauie uneasy, discontented, and hh-
wiiling to cbnfinehiy self longer to the duties of a
fanner.
Every thing seemed to point .my mind to An
object, viz.: the preparation of This herb into a
medicine. I then determined to return to the city
of N. York. I did so, and immediately inquired ‘
for tho herb. It was not to bo "found. I then
sent to Europe and there fohh’d it uuder unotheV
name.
Having prepared the article to my Satisfaction.
I gave it away to all who would use it. Hun
dreds, 1 might say thommnds, took it into their
families anil mteil it: some for one thing and
some for another, and all from tire Very first to
the very last, pronounced it of unrivaled excel"
enee aiul power.
The first case that came under my observation,
wns u man that had lost the uso of his anil for
some years. The Ointment restored his aim
completely in a few days. This surprised me us
much as it did tlio patient. After him there came
a man with sore eyes produced by gunpowder—a
very bnd case indeed. Ono box only sufficied to
make n perfect cure. And I would here remark
that hundreds have been cured of sore eyes,
who never found any relief but in tuis Oint
ment.
There next came a woman Who was suffering
excruciating pain from tlieuguo'iii the face.—
Her physician (thinking it the toothache,) hud
extracted eleven of her teeth. But tho difficulty
still remained ns bad ns over. The Application
of the All Healing Ointment was attended with
immediate cessation of pain. Her face however,
began to swell, and the surface was covered over
with pimplerof eruption like prickly heat. Ito
ono day uli this disappeared. About the same
time, a lady Wade application with it for the
headache of long standing, and a falling of Die
hair. The Ointinelit cured her Lendatfie, and
restored her hair. Since this, I have known tlio
Ointmbut to euro cases of ton, twenty and forty
yenrsstanding. I hesituto not to say, that it (a
almost un infallible remedy for this complaint.
About tliis time there were tWb cases, one uf
Consumption, and thfe other of Scrofula, which
had baffled the skill ol every pliysiciun who pres
cribed. It was wonderful to witness the effectof
the Ointment on these persons. No ono would
believe it unless they had personally witnessed it.
But it did tho work properly. There was no hulf
way business, for they roebvered their health in u
lew mopths. -
Slieuuiatism, Fever, Quinzy, Sore Throut, Cu
taneous Eruptions, diseases of the Spine, and
Nervous Complaints were treated with unheard
uf success. Butin Chest diseases, such as Asth
ma, pain and oppression, I boliove (here is no bet
ter remedy. Also, Uie bbttiinbn didenses, such as
Ulcer Sores, Scald Head, Humors of tho Skiu
Inflammation, Piles, Sore Eyes, Sprains, Bruises’
und Burns, it seems to bo a perfect antidote
People would come into tho store smiling, wish
ing to know if I was really the Seventh Son, or
whether the Ointment that I gave Uicm wusimiend
all-ijealing in its nature. For said they, not One
single application bus failed to cure.
Liver Complaint, particularly, was treated with
great uud universal success.
It produced such gbbd results in all cases that it
has been noised abroad, and I was offered sums of
money for a receipt to make it for private use
merely. Every inuu spoke Well of it, as it hud
doneso much good.
Notwithstanding all, I have been careful not to
recommend it except in eases 1 Igiew it would do
crulheullh of both mother nud child. Itlmsbeuu , . • .. . * : —-

must be that will lessen the terrible pains usually
atteuduiitoii childbirth. There is no mistake u-
bout this medicine doing all that is said of it.
It never luils. It is iu the form of a fine, light
powder, to be made into a drink; and used for a
few weeks previous to the expected event, and
it* price is so low as to bring it within the reach
of all. Surely no humane husbuiid will sutler
his wifo to endure pain, when it can he so easily

And, in conclusion, I would remark that I have
pi iced this Ointment before tlio people of the U.
States during the last nine or twelve months, and
so general has been the satisfaction, and so great
amount of good done, that hmre thati half a mill
ion of boxes have already been sold. I do really
believe there never was a medicine which gained
and cheaply avoided. For the small sum of only 8,,ck "’Me spread, universal und unanimous satis
