pURIFY THE BLOOD.—The vir
tues ofSarsaparilla are too well known to
everp one to need any praise or puffiug. That
it will purify the blood and thereby make the
human system less liable to disease, has been set
tled beyond a doubt, by the most learned aud
eminent Physiciaus in the world.
Thomas M. Turner & Co’s Compound Syr
up of Sarsaparilla is a delightful and healthful
drink for summer. It has been used extensively
in Florida, and throughout tho upper part of
GeBrgin, for severul. years, und hns never fuiled
in giving entiro satisfaction. A number of fam
ilies in this city can testify that it is tho most pal-

HEALING OINTMENT.—-Aoouttneye r
1817,1 ;Was living in the western part of this 8tate,
pursuing tlie occapation of a farmer. One day
while chopping!in the woods, I Ibolislily chopped
ftiv foot nearly .off,,instead of the tree. During
this misfortune J implored myself in perusingthe
fragmenl leaves ofon old volume, printed in Eng-* v
land some hundred years ago. Among these
scattered leaves I read of an herb which had been
analyzed by some of England’s ancient Alche
mists, allowing properties and qualities never be-J
fore found in anyp ant that was ever discovered-,
This one herb, under the force of the Retort
and Crucible, developed more than ten distinct
properties. This fact struck my mind soforoibly,
diat it was impossible to get rid of it. Something
seemed to tell me that Providence, whose spec d
care is extended towards all his creatures, hed
never concentrated into one smull herb so manj
medicinal qualities, os various und as complicated,
-Ithough-perfectly identical as the human blood,
without a wise and good purpose. Here won to
be found the acids, the alkalis, the oils, tho water,
the air, tho salts, the soda, &c., all combined, con
centrated. and chemically united into one single
• lenient of power, forming a substance more al
lied and iu affinity to the human blood than was
over before discovered in the works of nature.
Laboring under these impressions for several
years, I became uneasy, discontented, and un
willing to coufiue myself longer to the duties of a
farmer. •
Every thing seemed to point my mind to an
objectj viz.: the preparation of this herb into a
medicine. I then determined to return to tlie city
of N. York. I did so, und immediately inquired
for the herb. It was not to b.c7onud. I then
sent to Europe and there l'qund it under another
name. ,
Having preparod the article to my satisfaction,
I gave it away to all who would lise it. Hun
dreds, I might Bny thousands, took it into their
families and used it: some for one thing nnd
Home for another, and all from the vary first to
tho very last, pronounced it of unrivaled excel-
once and power.
The - first case that enme under my observation,
was a mau that had lost the use of his urm for
somo years. The Ointment restored his arm
completely in a few days. This surprised me as
much an it did tho patient. After him there came
a man with sore oyes produced by gunpowder—a
very bad case indeed. One box only sullicied to
mako a perfect cure. And I would here remark
that hundreds have been cured of sore eves
who never found any relief but in tnis Oint
ment.
There next came a woman who was suffering
excruciating pain from the ague in the face.—
Her physician (thinking it the toothache,) had
extracted eleven of her teeth. But the difficulty
Win remained n, had nn ever. The Application
of the All Healing Ointment was attended with
immediate cessation of pain. Horface however
beganto swell, and the surface ivas coveredover
with pimples oftlruption like prickly heat. In
ono day all this disappeared. About the same
time, a lady mado application with it for the
headache of long standing, and a falling of the
hair. The Ointment cured her headache, and
restored her Imir. Since this, I have known the
Ointment to cure cases often, twenty and forty
years standing. I hesitate not to say, that it is
almost an infallible remedy for this complaint.
About this time there wore two cases, one of
Consumption, and tho other of Scrofula, which
had baffled the skill of every physician who pres
cribed. It was wonderful to witness the effectof
the Ointment on these persons. No one would
believe it unless they hud personally witnessed it.
Vut it did the work proporly. Thero was no half
way business, for they recovered their health in a
few months.

In conformity with a Resolution recently pass

by our Fellow-Citizens for years past, and to
urge uponyou the necessity, if you desire u con
tinuance of that blessing, during the approaching
season, to keep under those local causes hy a
prompt removal of nil animal and vegetable de

otherwise you invito disease, and the consequen
ces that necessarily follow in its train. Wu.your
Board of Health, earnestly entreat you to white
wash your Fences, Cellars, Out-houses; and
freely uso the (Sulphate Fcrri) Copperas in pro
portion of two pounds to three gallons of water,
in your siuks aud other places emitiiig unpleas

heullh, wo would suggest that each citizen adopt
a feeling that ho aIho is a member of this Board,
by giving his attention to the cleanliness of his
premisus.and those around him.
The Board of Health expect! their Fellow-
Citizens will afford them aid in their weekly vis
its, to enable them to effect strict examinations
and faithful reports.
Your Board of Health requests that you muke
known through the medium of its Chairman,
Ward-Committees, City Marshal, or by letter
through the Post Office, of any nuisauce or de
posit that may be calculated to produce disease.
The duty assigned to us is an arduous one. If
we meet with a cordial and approving support,
then shall we feel that our labors have not been
without effect.

liver Complaint, particularly, wus treated with
great and universal success.
It produced such good results in all cases that it
has been noised abroud, und I was offered sums of
money for a receipt to make it for private use
merely. Every man spoke well of it, as it had
done so much good.
Notwithstanding all, I have beon careful not to
recommend n except in cases I knew it would do
good. I was never willing to lend myself to any
tiling without first testing its merits. ’This I en
deavor to do on every occasion, and when I acted
as one of the Sick Committee in tiie Lodge of I.
O. of O. F. I then tested it upon Brothers in the
most critical conditions, and had abunduntoppor
(unity of proving its worth.
And, in conclusion, I would remark that I have
pi iced this Ointment before the people ofthe U.
States during the last nine or twelve months, and
so general has been the satisfaction, and so great
amount of good done, that more then half a mill
ion of boxes have ulreudy been sold. I do really
believe there never was a medicine which gained
such wide Boreud, universal and unanimous satis
faction os the All-Healing Ointment. From all
parts of the land thero have come up one deep,
sincere and universal voice of approbation saying
“McAlister thy tongue hath dropped the word of
Iruthiind love, while heulth forever attends thv

sayings of tlie people, their unqualified approval,
their thankfulness aud gratitude, tlioir joy at recov
