Allow me to call your attention to one ofthe great
est and most useful Medeciues ever discovered.
It is not my intention to tax you with a long aud
tiresom advertisement, but l lay before you the
testimony of the most respectable families in the
United States, most of my certificates are from the
city of Suvannah, where I reside, and many from
your own State, where the Medicine is used with
great aud astonishing success; it has proved itself
to be superior to any other Medicine for the cure
of Fever and Ague, which it will do in the very
short space of Twelve Hours, it has never been
known in fail to effect a certain cure. The Med-
iciuo is a harmless and tasteless one, which will
inake it the most populai'jMcdiciueinthe Southern
Slates. The Medicine contains no mineral pre
paration whatever, but is a harmless Vegetable
matter only. To Planters, this Medicine is a val
uable preparation, os it cures all cases in twelve
hours, ami does not require any time to be lost; ail
that is to be done is to take the Medicine and to go
to work. To the Rice Planter it is a vuliwbleMed-
icine, as it does not contain any mercurial or min
eral preparation whatever, and is therefore a safe
Medicine for those who are liable to exposure. I
beg you. do not let me have to tax you so often with
advertisement*, certificates, &c. It has already
proved itself to bewlmt I say it is, and the greatest
proof is every body is recommending it to be [the
only certain and speedy cure for the Fever and
Ague All you hnve to do is to uak your neighbor
what he thinks of Humphreys’ Remedy for Fever
Doct. P. M. Cohen,ofCharleston, 8 C. or myself,
in the city ofSavunnah, and either of ns will give
enough for twelve cases, and if it does not cure ten
out of twelve, we will refund the amount paid for
it. Your ure to see the Medicine taken as I have
directed.
Owing to the heavy rains during the past sum
mer, and which still continue, all the low lands
arc under wuter, which will cause a great deal of
this disease on the Rice Plantations; it will be to
your advantage to procure a certain and speedy
remedy;-you can do so by applying to either of
my Agents or myself. Ask for HUMPHREY’S
REMEDY FOR FEVER AND AGUE.
This Medicine is for sale by the following
named gentlemen, who are the only agents for
•he sale ofthe Great Southern Remedr, where
it will be fouud either at wholesale or retail.
Country merchants will make a handsome profit
by sellingthis medicine. A liberal discouu (made

This Medicine ha* acquired a very ex
tended nnd established reputation wherever
it has been used, based entirely on its own merits,
which its superior efficacy has alone sustained. The un
fortunate victim of hereditary disease, with swollen glands, con-
'• sinews, and bones half carious, has been restored lo health
The Scrofulous patient, covered with ulcers, loathsome to himself
i attendants, lias been made whole. Hundreds of persons, who had groaned
hopelessly for years under cutaneous nnd glandular disorders, chronic rheumatism,
and many other complaints springing from a derangement of the secretive organs
and the circulation, have been raised as it were from the rack of disease, and now,
with regenerated constitutions, gladly testify to the efficacy of this inestimable
preparation. The testimony of those who have been cured by its use, with their
residences, hns been published from time to time; and were it desirable, a mass
of the meet overwhelming testimony could be brought forward, proving most con
clusively its inestimable value. The afflicted, and those who have not used this
medicine, are invited to mnke a trial of its virtues, nnd appropriate to themselves the
benefits which it alone can bestow. '
CANCEROUS ULCER CURED, OF 8EVEN YEARS’ STANDING.
Thig core was effected in July, 1844; there have been no symptoms of a return,
and her health still continues good, July, 1848.
Few York, July 25, 1844.
Messrs. 8ahds:—Gentlemen—I consider it but an act of justico to you to state the
following facts in reference to the great benefit I have received in the cure of an ob-
itinate Camcexouh Ulcek on my breast.
I was attended eighteen months by n regular nnd skilful physician, assisted by tho
advice nnd counsel of one of out roost able and experienced surgeons, without the
least benefit whatever. Ail the various methods of treating cancer were resorted to;
for five weeks in succession my breast was burned with caustic three times a-day,
and for six it wns daily syringed with a weak rotation of nitric acid, and the cavity or
internal ulcer was so large that it held over an ounce of the solution. The doctor
probed the ulcer nnd examined the bone, and said the disease was advancing rapidly
to the lungs, and if 1 did nut get speedy relief by medicine or nn operation, tne result
would be fatal. I wns advised to have the breast laid open and the bones examined;
but finding no relief from w hat had been done, and feeling I was rapidly getting wrsep
I almost despaired of recovery, and considered my case nearly hopeless. ^
Seeing various testimonials and certificates of cure by the use of Sards’ Saksava-
billa, in cases similar to my own, I concluded to try a few bottles, several'of which
were used, but, from the luqg deop-scated character of my disease, produced noTery
decided change. Considering this ns ihe only probable cure for my cose, I persevered
until the disease was entirely cured. It is now over eleven months since the cure
was completed; there is not the slightest appearance of a return. 1 therefore pro
nounce myself well, and the cure entirely effected by Sards' Sabsapabilla, as I took
no other medicine of any kind during the time I was using it, nor have / taken any since.
Please excuse this long-deferred acknowledgment, which I think it my duty to
make. Your valuable Sarsaparilla cured me, with the blessing of Divine Providence,
when nothing else could; aud I feel myself under lasting obligations to you. I can
say ninny things 1 cannot write, and I 'do most respectfully invite ladies afflicted as I
have been, to call upon me, and I will satisfy them fully of the truth as stated above,
and many other things preference to tho case.

LIVER COMPLAINT.
The following is an extract from a letter received from Rev. William Galushx
Berkshire, Vt., Oct. 22,1845.
Messrs. Sards:—I have been afflicted with a severe pain in iny side, occasioned
by a diseased liver, for the last twenty years ; suffering at times what language can
not convey; but since taking your Sarsaparilla I have been grenlly relieved, so much
ro that i have been able to attend to my business, and preach occasionally, for the*
last fifteen months. I wholly discarded all other medicine, and thoroughly tried the
Sarsaparilla, which I can recommend in truth aud sincerity to all thoso who are in
any way afflicted with any species of scrofulous complaints. 1 There have been some
remarkable cures effected by.its use in this vicinity. Mrs. L Shaw, by the use of six
bottles, was restored to better health limn she nud before enjoyed for ten years; and
Mrs. W. Stevens, who had been severely afflicted with Erysipelas, was entirely cured
by the use of a few bottles. Ydurs truly, WM. GALUSHA.
" CURE OF A SCROFULOUS AFFECTION OF THE EYE8.
South Kingston, R. I., October 11, 1847.
Messrs. Sards :—Gentlemen—My littlo daughter, when one year old, was attacked
with a scrofulous humorou her face, which soon after extended into her eyes, causing
almost total blindness in one of them, and disfiguring her whole face. I employed
two physicians to attend her, who exhausted their utmost skill to give her relief, but
it all proved useless, and finally one of them remarked to me that he had known of
some striking cures effected by Sards’ Sarsaparilla, and advised me to try it. I ob
tained one bottle, which she commenced using, and before it was nil used up it had
effected an entire cure. It is now over four years since she was cured, and there has
been no reappearance of the disease, and we are satisfied that it is a perfect cure.
It gives me great pleasure to add that I can recommend it to every sufferer from any

A RROW ROOT.—Jnst received a fresh
x\. supply of Col. Hallowes’ Arrow Root, new
crop, alia for Bale by J. ROUSSTAU.
The Arrow Root may bo distinguished from
Potatoe Starch by the different sizes of its parti

by alcohol from Potatoe starch.—Dr. Ure on Arts.
I have examined and have had prepared some
Arrow Root cultivated and manufactured by Col.
Hallowes of St. Marys, Georgia. It is the best
quality of that variety offaecula I have met with,
being suporior to any Bermuda or other Arrow
