Tho following certificates, just received
from highly respectable gentlemen will allow
its value:
Baltimore County, Feb. 14th 1829.
Gentlemen—l feel it iny duty to acknowl
edge tho great benefit I have derived from tho
uso of De La Alontorat’s Columbian Vegeta
ble Specific. I do not liko to speak of tho
Alodicinc in tho exalted terms in which I esti
mate it, I will, therefore, as briefly as possible,
give a history of my own situation, with tiio
effects produced by this valuable medicine.—
I have been, for tho last fivo or six years, la-
boring under n pulmonary Consumption, pro-
nounced to bo such by tile attending physi
cian, during which time I have consulted
many physicians, taken much medicine, but
all to but little purpose. Tho 12th of March,
1828, l puked blood for tho first time, and con-
t limed so to do for several days in succession,
and on tho 14th ofthe same mouth was con
fined to my bed, where I lay lor two months
until I was reduced to such a stato of debility,
that my friends began to dospairof my recove
ry. I had inado use also of all tho popular
remedies without bonefit, nnd having acciden
tally heard of this Specific, I determined to
give it a trial, anticipating IVom tho uso of it,
no hotjgr result than had attended tho nsa of
all tiio remedies I had taken; but in this I was
happily disappointed. At my very lowest
state I commenced the use of this Specific.
I took tho first doso at night in a little herb tea,
sweetened, which threw mo in a gentle per
spiration and procured for ino a good night’s
rest. 1 continued to take the modicinc as di
rected, and in about fivo days my cough was
completely stopped and havo not had any re
turn since. lam now perfectly satisfied of
tho superior quality of this Specific over every
other medicine offered for tho euro of tho
above disease. You lire ut liberty to use this
loiter in any way you may think proper.—
Yours respectfully,
(Signed,) JOHN R. ELLICOTT,
Baltimore, Feb. 19(A, 1829

having been persuaded by my parents, 1 was
