In nil cases of coughs, colds, asthmas, und

this article they have been enubiod to defeat
an enemy whoso attacks would otherwise

cured the most violent cases in which other
medicines have failed to give any relief. It
operates by gentle expectorations und may

Do L*i Monterat’s Columbian Vegetable
Specific has stood thu test of experience and
proved itself the most valuable remedy ever
discovered for the cure of Consumption and
Pulmonary affections of every kind.
The following certificates, just received
from highly respectable gentlemen will show
its value:
Baltimore County, Feb. 14th 1829.
Gentlemen—I feel it my duty to acknowl
edge the great benefit I have derived from the
use of Do La Monterat’s Columbian Vegeta
ble Specific. I do not like to speak of the
Medicine in the exalted terms in which I esti
mate it, 1 will, therefore, ns briefly os possible,
give a history of my own situation, with the
effects produced by this valuable medicine.—
I have been, for the last fi\e or six years, la
boring under a pulmonary Consumption, pro
nounced to bo such by the attending physi-
cian, during which time I have consulted
many physicians, taken much medicine, but
all to but little purpose. The 12th of March,
1828,1 puked blood for the first time, and con
tinued so to do for several days in succession,
and on the 14th oftho same month was con
fined to my bed, whore I lay for two months
until I was reduced to such a state of debility,
that my friends began to despair of my recove
ry. I had made uso also of all the popular
remedies without benefit, nnd having acciden
tally heard of this Specific, I determined to
give it a trial, anticijwtingfrom tho use of it,
no better result than had attended tho nso ol*
nil tho remedies I had taken; but in this I was
happily disappointed. At my very lowest
state 1 commenced the uso of tins Specific.—
I took the first dose at night in a little herb tea,
sweetened, which threw mo in a gentle per
spiration and procured for mo a good night’s
rest, I continued to tnkc tho medicino as di
rected, and in about fivo days my cough was
completely stopped nnd have not had any re
turn since. I am now perfectly satisfied of
the superior quality of tins Specific over evtsTy
other medicino offered for tho cure ot' the
above disease. You urc at liberty to uso this
letter in any way you may think proper.—
\ ours respectfully,
(Signed,) JOHN R. ELLICOTT,
