No lafer reliable Intelligence from the Turkish
war, though there are rumors of a decisive battle
fought near Bucharest. It was not known which
party was victorious. Details have been received of
the recent affair at Oltenitza, in which the Turks
achieved a brilliant vlotory. Twelve hundred Rus
sians were killed and wounded. The Turks to the
number of nearly 100,000 men have crossed the
Danubo. Gartaobakoll has received orders to &ot
only ou the defensive. The Turks captured eight
gunB at Oltenitza.
Tho fourth regiment of Poles In the Russian ser
vice aro disaffected. They gave no alarm when they
saw the Turks crowing the Danube ; they oven fa
vored their passage.
The Turkish fleet Is in the Black sea; that of
Franco and England la In the sea of Marmora.
Prussia has laid an embargo on Turkish shipping,
to commence from tho 22d of November. Neutral
flags aro to bo respected.
Count Nbssklkode, the Russian* Prime Minister’s
diplomatic circular just published has excited strong
remarks ou tho part of tho Freuch and English press.
Turkey refuses to havo uny thing to do with any
amendments of the Vienna note. She insists upon a
new treaty—out and out, to provido against future
difficulties.

The House qualified tho new members who had
been specially elected to vill vacancies.
A debate occurred, relative to the seat of Mr. John
C. Allen of Edgefield, but finally tho Honorable gon*

The U. S. Mall Steamship Prometheus arrived on
Tuesday nt Now York, from San Juan, with $1,750,-
000 in gold.
Among her passengers was John Mitchell, the Irish
exile. There was great excitement ou the wharf to
see him, and the steamer was surrounded with boats
Mr. Mitchcl, however, was quietly conveyed to his
mother’s real deuce nt Brooklyn. He was loudly
cheered at the Ferry, and serenaded in tiio evening'

The'll. 8. mnil steamship Illinois, lias arrived at
Now York from Asplnwall, with over ono million
of dollars in specie.
The Brazilian Government had sent special minis
ters to Peru, Bolivia, Equador and New Grenada, to
effect a treaty, having for Its object the monopoliza
tion of the trade of tho Amnzou. The gold discov
eries in Amazon were exciting great attention.

Exchange, In Hie city of Philadelphia, Pa.,
The flne side-wheel steamship OSPREY.
Tho Oaprcy is a side-wheel steamship, built In 1847.
lengthened and ir-wit J u I860, Is about 186 feet tn length,
27 feet beaus, and 20 leet depWvot bold. By btdlden' meas
urement about 1000 tuns, and registers 607 ttan's." lias sin
gle engino of 62 Inch o\ llndor. and 7 feet atroko. Has late
ly been supplied with force-pumps, hoBe,lire-boats,llfe-pre-
aervora. Ac., according to the new law of Congress, and is in
evory respect in order for continuing on her present line,
or any other route for which she may be required.
During the past eighteen months nearly forty thousand
dollars have been oxpended furnishing her with new boil
ers, overhauling machinery, building dining saloon, new
furniture, Ac.
She Is fitted up with eighty state room berths, and two
large saloons between deck*; and on deck, officers’ rooms,
and a dining saloon sixty foot In length, furnished with
Johnson’* patent *ofa dining tables, and capable of seating
one hundred passengers at table. She is capable of ac
commodating ono hundred and fifty first class passengers,
and Is abundantly supplied with bedding, table furniture,
linen, plate, Ac.
She is ono of the most economical sea steamships afloat,
her consumption of coal being only about twelve tuns In
twenty.four hours.
The Osprey is now running between Philadelphia and
Charleston, and from which sue hah been regularly plying
since February last, during which time she has not missed
a single trip, and has cleared over and above her running
expenses between twelve and thirteen thousand dollars.—
Her owners not boing in tbo shipping business, and having
run her mostly for the benefit of the business of their own
city during the spring and fall trado of this year, In the
liopo that thoso most Interested in tho Charleston trade
would havo secured her permanently on the lino, which not
having been accomplished, they have now determined .to
soil her peremptorily by public auction.
She will bo In port and cun be seen from the 15th to the
10th Inst., and will leave again for Charleston on the latter
day, returning to this port again on tho 29th Inst., and can
then bo Inspected until the day of zalo, at her wharf, foot of
l*ine street.
