Sec. 1. Bo it ordained by the Mayor and Alder
men of tho City of Savannah and the Hamlets there
of, iu Council iiKsemhlcd, aud It is hereby ordained
by tho authority or tho satno, That It shall bo the
duty of every person keeping a Boarding or Lodg
ing House, In the City of Savannah, betwocn the
thlrty-llrat dtiy of March, and tho first day of No
vember in each mid every year, to report iu writ
ing to tho chairman of the Uourd of Heulih, or to (ho
Health Committee of tho ward, the nuino of every
soafurcing-tnun boarder or transient person, who
shall bo sick lu Ids or her liouso, within twelve
hours after such case of sickness shall have occur
red, aud for uegleotlng so to do, mid on couviction
thereof before Council, he or she shall be fined lu u
sum not exceeding thirty dollars.
Pec. 2. Bo it further ordained, Tlmt the persons
hooping the above mentioned houses, be compelled
to give bond and security to tho Ohairinun of the
Board of Health, iu the sum of filly dollars, for all
expenses that might be iucurrod by the death of
Mich person, if ut the recommendation of tho Chair
man of the Board of Health or ward committee, tho
person so being sick, bo not Immediately sent to
tho hospital, utul upon iicclecthig or refusing to
comply witii the requisitions of this section, tho per
sons keeping such houses shall be fined in a sum

and propounding that tho suid libellants uru the
true aud legal ownors ol‘tho said ship Elizabeth, of
which Thomas Williams is and lately was master,
that on the night of tho fifth of April, iu the year
eighteen huudred ami fifty-six, the said ship Eliza
beth was Tying in tho River Savannah, at Venus’
Point, well In shore, and was at that time a stauuch
uml well built ship of tho burthen of niuo huudred
and fifty tuns, or thereabouts, uud sutllcicntJy pro
vided with apparel, tucklo aud furniture, and pro
perly manned with a aulllciout orew to work and
navigate said ship, that on tho said night of the fifth
of April, eighteen hundred uml titty-six, ubout seven
o’clock iu tho evening, a signal luutern was hung
out in tho forestay of suid ship Elizabeth: that about
eight o’clock 011 the night of tho said filth of April,
whilst the said ship Elizabeth was so lying at Venus’
Point, In tho Savnuuuh River, within tho ebb and
flow of the tide, and within tho admiralty and muru-
time Jurisdiction of the District Court of tho United
Status, for tho Southern District of Georgia, securely
moored, tho steamship Kuystouo State, whereof
Robert Hnrdie was master ou her way Irom Phila
delphia to tho city of savannah, canto up tho Savan
nah River under full headway, aud then and there,
with groat force and violouco, ran into and upon tho
said ship Elizabeth, sinusliing tho side of tho fore-
oustlo of said ship Elizabeth, breaking five of tho
forecastle beams, started the deck, carried away
the bowsprit, uud other damage did to the said ship
Elizabeth, as in said libel is slated, rendering ituu-
cessury to discharge a part of her cargo, and to
bring tior up to the city of Savannah for repairs, ut
great expense aud loss of time; that It is Impossible
to ascertain exhctly what will bo tho extent of tho
damages, but as far as calculation can bo made the
dumugo sustained by such collision to tho said ship
Elizabeth, amounts to the sum of ten thousand del
lars; tlmt this occurred iu tho admirulty uqd mnra-
time jurisdiction of suid Court, all of which tho libel-
lunts pray leave to furnish proof of, and have also
prayed a decree tor their damages aforesaid, aud
coals, und tlmt the ordinary process may issue.
And whereus the judge of the District Court afore
said hath ordered uud directed that tho ordinary
process should Issue, returnable to tho Uultud
Mates Court Room Iti tho city of Suvauuah, ou tho

Now, therefore, you are hereby authorized, em
powered uud strictly onjoltied peremptorily to cito
aud admonish all persons having, or pretending to
have, any t ight, title, iutercst, or claim to the said
steamship Keystouu State, hor machinery, tackle,
apparel and furniture, by all luwful ways and means
whereby tills monition may bo mudo most public
aud notorious, to ho uud appear at the time uud
place aforesaid, before th* Judge aforesaid, to sliow
cause, if any they have, why judgment should not
pass us prayed for, uud to do und receive what unto
law aud justice shall appertain, aud whatever you
