T. Thomas, opposite
tho Gas Works, in this
city, was a sale oi
the above description*
containing tiie books, pai*ers, and mouey of Mr.
Thomas, and although the building was detroyed,
the said Safe sustained no injury whatever from the
intonso heat to which it had been exposed. On open
ing the Safe, the contents were found undisturbed,
and in the samo order and condition as wheu placed
there, except a slight discoloration to the projecting
ends of a Tew |*aperd. and tbo backs of one or two of
the books, caused by tho steam generated iu the
Safe, while at its greatest heat.
The Sale and contcuts, as it camo from tho ruins,
may still bo seen, in tho possession of Mr. Thomas,
at tho Gas Works. A large assortment of those cele
brated Safes always on hand,and for sale by

dninod by authority of tho rarao, That tho fees of
tho Health Offlcor (which shall bo paid by the
owner, master, or consignee of any vessel) shall
be as follows: '
For boardtug any vessel lying at tho quarantine
ground, at Fort Jackson, two cents a ton up to 600
tons, beyond which no additional foo shall bo
charged In case or a visit at night tho foes charged
snail oo doubio the proceeding; and all expenses
incurred for boarding any vessel shall be paid by
tbo Health Officer, except that the city will furnish
a quarantine boat.
For visiting and inspecting a vcsbu! which has
been subjected to quarantine, and giving a permit
to como up to tbo city, five dollars.

ure I now offer to tbe public and tho faculty my
Compound Fluid Extracts, which contain all the vir
tues ortho articles they are represented to be made
from in a highly concentrated form, and are the most
active preparations which can be made. Two ta-
blespoonsttil or the Extract Sarsaparilla, added to a
pint or water, is equal to the Lisbon diet drink, and
one bottle fully equals in strength one gallon of Syr
up Sarsaparilla or decoction as usually made.
