highest terms the value of ,
their superiority over all other preparations for
such complaints aa the proprietor recommends.
Numerous preparations of Sarsaparilla and of Buchu
and various modes of preparing them have been
liven, all of which of course will differ according to
the mods of preparation which each individual «*ay
adopt.
These medicines require considerable care in tbe
preparation and tho employment of different men
strua in successive operation to take up the extract
live matters, and, to consequence, are most fre
quently improperly made, and not unfrequeatly
much impaired, if not rendered totally inert, by the
injudicious and unskilful management of those unac
quainted with pharmaceutical preparations. » >s
therefore of the highest consideration and import
ance to the public and to the faculty that there
should be standard preparations of uniform strength
and possessing the most advantages. To effect this
and obviate the evil alluded to, I have made a num
ber or experiments to ascertain the most effectual
mode of extracting tbe virtues of the Sarsaparilla
and the Buchu, and to discover the most eligible
form for their exhibition. The experiments have
resulted moet favorably, and it is with much pleas
ure I now offer to tbe public and the faculty my
Compound Fluid Extracts, which contain all tbe vir
tues of the articles they are represented to be made
from tn a highly concentrated form, and are the most
active preparations which can be made. Two ta-
bleu poo naful of the Extract Sarsaparilla, added to a
pint of water, is equal to tbe Lisbon diet drink, and
one bottle fully equals in strength one gallon of Syr
up Sarsaparilla or decoction as usually made.
