Whereas, from the increased commerce of tbe
wort of Savannah tho duties of tho Health Officer
has greatly increased, aud the salary bus not boon
creased duriug tho last thirty years :
Sec. 1. Bo it orduinod by tho Mayor aud Alder
men of the City of Savannah aud the Hamlets there-
In In Council as endued, and It is hereby ordained
by tho authority or the sumo, Tlmt from and aftor
the passage of this Ordinance the salary iff tho
Health Officer bo at the rate of five hundred dol
lars.
Sec. 2. Bo it further ordained by the Muyor and
Aldormeu ortho City of Savannah and tho Hamlets
thereof In Council assembled, and it is hereby or
dained by authority of tho same, That tho fees of
the Health Officer (which shall ho jinjd by the
owner, master, or consignee of any vessel) shall
bo os follows:
For boarding any vessel lying at tho quarantine
grouud, nt Fort Jackson, two cents a ton up to 600
tone, beyond which no additional leo shall bo
cl larged, lu ease of a visit at ufght the fees charged
shall ue double tho proceed ug; and all expenses
incurred for boarding any vessel shall ho paid by
the Health Olllcor, except that the city will furnish
a quarantine boat.
For visiting uud inspecting u vessel which has
been subjected to quarantine, aud giving a permit
to cotno lip te tho citv, live dollars.

aforesaid, That in case it shall bo deemed uocossary
by tho Health Officer to send a patient to tho Post
