for boarulng vo.-seU and for giving aeertillcate
for health or permit to come to (he city und dis
charge their loads, and for other purposes :
Whereas, from tho Increased commerce of tho
jKirt of Savannah the duties or tho Health Officer
has greatly increased, aud the salary ho* not been
created during tho last thirty year*:
Sen-1. Bo it ordained by tlio Mayor and Alder
men ol tlio City of Savannah and tho llumlete (here
to In Council as ombiud, aud ills hereby ordained
by tho authority of tho same, That from aud alter
tho passage of tills Ordiuunoo tho .salary of the
Health Officer bo at the rate of five hundred dol-
lars. .
Sec. 2. Bo It further ordained by tho Mayor aud
Aldermen of tho City of Savannah ami tbo liamU-ts
thereof to Council assembled, and it is hereby or
dained by authority or the same, ibat the foes or
tlio Health Officer (which shall be paid by tbo
owner, master, or consignee of any vessel) shall
lie as follows:
For boardtugauy vessel lying at (he quarantine
ground, at Fort Jacksou, two cents u ton up to 6U0
tens, beyond which un additional fee shall bo
churgod. In case of a visit at night Iho loos charged

incurred for boarding auy vessel shall bo paid by
tlio Health OUleor, except that the city will furnish
