Whereas, from tbo Increased commerce of the
S ort oT Savannah Uio duties of tho Health officer
as greatly increased, and the salary has not lieeu
creased during tho lost thirty yean :
8ec. 1. Be it ordained by tho Mayof and Alder
men of tbe City of Savannah and tho Hamlets there
in in Council as embied, and it is hereby ordained
by tho authority of tbo same, That from and after
tho passago of this Ordinance tho salary of tho
Health Officer bo at tho rato of flvo hundred del-

Aldermen oftho City of Savannah aud tho Hamlets
thereof In Council assembled, uud it is hereby or
dained by authority of the same, That tho fees of
tho Health Officer (which shall be paid by tho
owner, master, or consignee of any vessel) shall
bo os follow*:
For boarding any vessel lying at the quaruutmn
ground, at-Fort Jackson, two cents a ton up to 600
tons, beyond which n* additional fee shall he
charged. In case of a visit at night tlio foes charged
shall uo double tlio proceed ng; and all expenses
Incurred for boarding any vessel shall bo paid by
tho Health Officor, except that the city will furnish
a quarantine beat.
For visiting and inspecting a vessel which has
been subjected to quarantino, and giving a permit
to como up to the city, five dollar*.

aforesaid, That in coso It shall bo deemed uccc??ary
