Marianna, Fla., Oct 8, 1850
H, B. Hilton Esq. Dear Sir :
Enclosed I scud yon the vote of this County
at the election on Monday last.
The Democratic majority in Washington is
not less than 75. Calhoun is said to have gone
for the Democrats. The same is said of Gads,
den, and of Walton. Know Nothing majority
in Holmes is said to be 23.
The Stato is Democratic beyond question and
Walker will bo beuteu for Governor. The
Know Nothings give it up
The Know Nothing’s profess to have re.
liable information from Georgia of great
changes in favor of Fillmoro, saying a few
weeks ago the Democrats were willing to bet
on 15 to 20,000 majority for Buck, but now tbe
dout expect to carry the State by over 5 or
6000 votes.fiTiiis is done to establish tho fact if
possible that Buck is rapidly losing ground and
tho chances are more in favor of Fillmore even
at tho South.
They are playing the old brag game.
Very respectfully yours.
