WHEREAS tl* Provoft-Marflul of tbit province, by virtue of a
writ of attachment te him dlrefted, did attach the lands tene
ptetti, good*, chattels* monies, debts* and books of account* of Philip
Atftoa* who is absent from and without the limits of the said province,
in the hands and possession of Isaac Perry, at the foil of Messrs. Inglii
aid Hall* merchants; AND WHSRBAS the (aid Isaac Perry, as a cre
ditor in poffeffion* hath* agreeable to the direAion of the Attachment
fcw. Sled his declaration in his Majesty's Ganera! Court of Plats again*
the said Philip Alftoa* and hath obt lined the following rale* viz.

Ed——d Hall were expelled the University, after an hearing of fcvcral
hours* for holding mcthodiftica! tenets, and taking upon them to pray,
read or expound the feriptures, and ling hymns, in private koufes. The
Principal of the Hail defended their doArinas from the thirty-nine arti
cles of the eftabiifhed church, spoke in the highest terms of the piety and
exeusplariacfs af their lives, but this motion war over-ruled, and fen ten ce

A BATCHELOR’S WILL.
IW. N. of D. in the county of S batchelor, being found bot% in body
and mind, bat apprcheniiv* I thaJ sh inly quit ihis vein and forlorn
Itate of celibacy, which 1 hope to exchange for a more comfortable and
happy oue, through the aid and indu gene* of a kind and virtoou* help,
mate, do make aid ordain this my last will and ttftament in manner and
form following.
Imprimiu 1 give and bequeath to my good friend Mr. W. M. all my
manor of Lottf Delay, con fitting and being macic up of the feecral farms and
mefTuages, called or known by the name of Douitt, Fean, Bajbfulnefs,
Irrofolutxon, Unetrtainty, FickUntft, Obs inacy, &c. Uc. being, for the moil

and tniftles, but capable, by proper management, of great cultivation and
improvement.
Item. I give and bequeath onto my good friend Mr. J A. my dw4-
ling-house and courtlage, called by the name o f Fain-Hopes, situate, ly
ugi ud bcnij, in Htgb-freet, in the town of Cafle-bnildtne, in the coun
ty of Imaiinatitn, nfing to the height of seven stories, having a fair gar
den andl profpeA before it, and a large number of windows in the front,
but without;any outlet behind, nor having any kitchens, cellars, or other
conveniencies, of asocial nature, belonging to it; to have and to hold
the said dwelling house until the day of his marriage,—if he (hall chink
proper to keep it so long.
Item. I give and bequeath to my gpod friend Mr. W\ R. all my wood
land, called and known by the name of Arhkiguity, which is well planted
with pan trill, eonundrums, quirks, and quibbles ; together with several im
penetrable brakes and thickets ofdark unintelligible incompnbenfbilitits.
And, iaftly, I give and bequeath all the rest of my batchelor good* an A
effeAs, confiftmg of a large treasure of whims, fancies, megrims, freaks,
reveries, Jcbines, prtjeSs, and defgtes, lie. to my aforefaid good friend Mr.
J. A. whom I confticuM and appoint foie executor of tki* my lift will and
teftamentonly desiring and requeuing of him that he would put a fan
cy or into the head* of such old batchelors of hi* acquaintance at he
(hall think properas also, that he writes and proooaace, an epithula
miuna oa this happy occasion, in order that this my departure int> the
bleflied region* of matrimony may be decently celebrated.
And a* I apprehend I (hall have no more occasion for the legacies above
disposed of, for it is my true intent and meaning, that my said legatees
(hould not confider them as favours and obligations conferred on them, as
it is also my farther sincere will and desire, that they do not hoard them
up* or continue to make a long and unprofitable ufc of them, but that
they (hould endeavour to put them off as soon as potiible, to the end that
they may be the better fitted and disposed to follow me into that happy
date into which 1 am now about to enter. 7
